Gratefulness
I would learn to listen. I would learn to listen with empathy.. The person I am listening to would realise that I really was listening and her/his spirits would lift. We would part company feeling enriched. If I could do this on a regular basis my ego might give up the struggle.
I might become a better listener able to appreciate who others really are and what they have to offer to me. I might become richer as a consequence of focusing outwards on the other.
So many things: the weekly collection of rubbish, the shower, the washing machine, the backyard, the trees, the rain that’s letting me sit here instead of watering the garden and so on and on …
To me generosity means to be open fully to life, to live every moment to the full without hesitation and to be fully aware of those around me, their needs, and their gifts to the world around them. It is to be part of a great fullness of being.
