I think wholeheartedness is giving into the vulnerability that others most often see in us but we are –I am– afraid to admit in ourselves. It means allowing pride to slide away. Or more, it means having it scraped off our skin the way the ancient Romans used to use oil to clean themselves. With a scraper. A balm. And time. But I think the pride is within, and it takes a while to get to it for ourselves, even if others can look right in and see.
