Here is part of my reflection on the questions…it opened up something pretty profound in me. The transition that I am in is related to my Motherhood too. It is a pilgrimage or a passing through because my Motherhood (me as Mother) is being redefined as my 18 year old son becomes an adult. I have 3 boys – the other 2 are 14 and 16. I gave birth to them but I do not ‘own’ or ‘possess’ them anymore than anyone else that I have met along the way or am in relationship with throughout my life. I have been and am a companion of theirs, they are pilgrims too and they are passing through. I have housed and nourished them but they are not ‘mine’. This significant shift lifts a weight of responsibility on my part and creates a deep gratitude for out time together and a respect for the unknown in our future companionship and solitude. This reflection and new awareness is very timely and nourishing.
