Gratefulness
everything counts . . .
perhaps both and neither . . . I believe I am here to enjoy the mystery that Life is, but also to learn and to grow, hone and strengthen my spirit, and to get glimpses of a Greater Consciousness, of which I am a part . . . I wonder if I’ll miss this beautiful earth when I am gone . . .
. . . all that I need. And I have learned better how to ask, and when not to ask.
Living like this brings an awareness of how deeply we are connected . . . we are not only connected, but we are one.
I really make an effort to see what appears to be ‘other’ as a wounded and distressed part of myself, not as an evil interloper . . . not always easy. But then, who told us Life would be easy?
. . . from everyone who has ever loved me, and even from those who haven’t. Sometimes it takes time to see the gift in everything that comes my way. It is all extraordinary . . .
It reminds me of how Great everything is . . . I am in awe and wonder . . . there is so much more than me and yet, I am a part of it.
I was actually thinking in terms of weeds=undesirable parts of ourselves . . . or unpleasant people or circumstances. Then, making the garden analogy I realized that actual weeds are not necessarily undesirable, which brought me to a place where balance is required . . . all things in moderation.
Weeds are people too . . .
The weeds teach me to be vigilant . . . if I don’t tend to my garden regularly, they will sprout up and strangle my plants. Oh yes, weeds do have their rightful place, but not in my garden.
Weeds also teach me to appreciate all beauty . . . take for example, the humble dandelion . . .
There is so much to explore in the material of these sessions… I am grateful that we can make hard copies… the last ten years or so, I have made gratefulness a daily practice in my life, and to be here with others who want to live more wholeheartedly has been a gift that is not much present in my day to day relations. Thank you David and Brother David and the Gratefulness team for giving me more to think about, and more to learn from...

I hold you all in my heart with love…

Yes . . . I too believe that all ground is holy, as are its inhabitants…
I began this practice of writing five things every day over ten years ago, and I tell you it has truly changed my life… blessings on your new beginning.
