Gratefulness
I’m so moved by the power of a life well lived. This site is evidence of the ripples from that life and is reminder to touch and be touched by life. Thank you Br. David and thank you Gratefulness.org around the globe! God Bless.
I savor the wisdom, soulful heart, and depth of Brother David’s words. I’m enjoying his Music of Silence now and especially like the Q&A on this site. The realization that many other people will be able to learn and grow through the years with Brother David by their side… is wonderful. Thank you to all the people involved with making that possible!
Thank you for this reminder to shift our societal preoccupation with staying ever young, to being with the “simple” fact that Life is the gift. It is the difference between fear of being elderly, to becoming an elder. While I’m in midlife and have been surprised to hear the growing inner voices comparing myself to an earlier version of self, I am simultaneously aware of the quiet spiritual transformation underneath the louder physical one. I’m noticing that having more capacity to be with my physical losses brings about a tenderness for my life- for all our lives. It is strange, but in the darkness which brings about acceptance, comes depth and utter joy. Blessings to you Kristi in your next year…
Wow! We are changed irreversibly by each other and this is proof of that. You palpably describe what it is to carry the beloved in our heart, mind, and thoughts. Here is to more discovery and more beauty… and for your loss, words are never enough, but I’m so sorry.
Merry Christmas to you dear brother David! Your voice has accompanied me through the years encouraging me to open my eyes to the miracle all around me. This letter is an especially helpful reminder to look at the many events in our world with more heart. Joyful birth for each of us.
Hug and appreciation to you, Star
Seems like your son Asher was also a wise being in his core surrounded by love, mirth and mystery. What a bright light, I’m glad to have been introduced to your loved one. I suspect his spirit will continue to touch those he has never met.
Hi Eddie, I certainly welcome your presence here and don’t imagine that the gratefulness community is only looking to be represented by one political view. Wherever we stand on the political spectrum, I think we can all agree that it has been a painful election process exposing deep fissures in our country. The mudslinging detracted from the very real pain that our citizens are feeling- on both “sides”. While “my” candidate didn’t win, a big part of ...
While “my” candidate didn’t win, a big part of that heartbreak is knowing that both sides have legitimate pain and feel so far from understanding the other. My hope is that this unifies us all to work harder to listen and support each other as fellow citizens. I believe this is the space where we feel our shared humanity first.
Blessings, Star
