In 2006, Br. David recorded a short audio meditation about gratefulness, set to music by award-winning composer Gary Malkin as an introduction to A Network for Grateful Living. The meditation, spoken spontaneously by Br. David, flowed from a heart honed by decades of prayer, practice, and sharing, and was given the title “A Good Day.”

In 2007, we created a video version with hand-picked public-domain images from around the world, and uploaded it to YouTube. Since its release (and translation into 13 languages), “A Good Day” has received over one million views, and has been used in countless ways in therapeutic settings, spiritual centers, business meetings, prisons, hospitals, homeless shelters and schools.

Fast forward to 2011, when Gary Malkin invited filmmaker Louie Schwartzberg to use the same soundtrack and re-imagine it with film.  After Louie presented his film at a TEDx talk in San Francisco, it went viral.  To date it has been seen over 6 million times and it has sparked the creation of Louie’s Gratitude Revealed — a journey into the mystery, science and “flavors” of gratitude and how it can be expressed in our daily lives.

We believe that this project, rising from such humble beginnings and now inspiring millions of people around the world, is testimony to the powerful ways that words and imagery – sourced from depth – can come together to uplift, inspire, transform and delight. And for this we are truly grateful!
