Gratefulness
I am not only grateful for “good” experiences but also for the “bad” ones too, because it is these experiences that bless us with wisdom.
Where I live during the school year (Doane University campus) is a blessing because it provides me with opportunities to grow in ethical wisdom and initiation into religious knowledge. I have had so much spiritual clarity since I began college, and life is starting to make more sense, even with its mysteries and all. Where I live during breaks (including right now) is a blessing because it was my parents who taught me basic ethical values and who still continue to guide me with wisdom, and my...
Where I live during the school year (Doane University campus) is a blessing because it provides me with opportunities to grow in ethical wisdom and initiation into religious knowledge. I have had so much spiritual clarity since I began college, and life is starting to make more sense, even with its mysteries and all. Where I live during breaks (including right now) is a blessing because it was my parents who taught me basic ethical values and who still continue to guide me with wisdom, and my animal companions are compassionate, healing, and divine beings who I love to death!
Emily is one of the kindest people I have ever met. Genuine, a friend to outcasts, always smiling, good with children, never judgmental. She is a great example to me, and I think following her leadership by example is a big step I can take to become a person of Light.
That regionals cross country meet my senior year of high school! I totally would’ve made it to State, but went out way too fast! That is a day I wish I could do over again. It wasn’t the end of the world, but it would’ve been so wonderful if I had used my opportunity wisely.
I desire to be a more peaceful, loving person to all, since, as the Christmas song says, “War is over if you want it.” Peace must begin with me. I also desire to look at everything with a higher level of awareness, appreciation, and spiritual depth. Furthermore, I have actually set an intention for myself not to get sick for the rest of the year. I believe our thoughts create reality, so I will see how this goes. I desire to be aware of God’s love and Presence at all times, being open and receptive to God’s healing love. Furthermore, I would like to have the courage to set my intentions in motion and trust that the Universe will give me whatever I need to fulfill those intentions. I also hope to be more forgiving, letting go of blame, remembering that everyone is divine regardless of their mistakes. Furthermore, I hope to give at least a 10% tithe of my earnings each month to charity, whether to the homeless, the stranded, the church, or someone in need of temporary financial assistance. I also hope to receive some more money, not for myself, but so that I can use it to benefit the world. I would also like to treat others as I want to be treated. Following the Golden Rule has been one of my big intentions this year. Furthermore, changing my thinking to be more useful and transformative for myself and the world is also a helpful tool. I also desire to grow in vast, expansive wisdom by listening to what others have to say and by continuing in my spiritual practice. Taking pleasure in the small things in life is a great intention that can make simple things more fun. I also desire to continue having inner peace. Getting rid of the idea of myself or anyone else as less than divine is a negative thought I am working on right now. To be grateful is one of my duties, I believe. I also hope to have a sense of awe and wonder at the beauty and love of others and of the natural world. Above all, I desire that God’s will and God’s will alone be done in the world, since the ultimate ideal is to submit to our dharma and live in harmony with God’s desires and missions for everything.
Just now, I joined a virtual commune that shares various resources, as much as anyone who has need, with others without buying anything. This allows me to receive what I need without having to give money to large corporations. I am excited to be a part of this and hope it kindles my imagination to see what is possible with generosity and community.
If I were not afraid, I would think more about my prayers and intentions and act on these desires so as to allow the Universe to provide the necessary resources for completing these intentions. At the same time, however, I would use caution by remembering to do God’s will alone and so would use the I Ching for guidance, not being like Saul, who had good intentions, but always acted on his own authority and not on God’s will.
I am waiting for a deeper understanding of Yeshua’s role in the salvation of humanity, for a deeper understanding of what the Holy Spirit is, for a deeper knowledge of what it means to have true life, for Christmas gifts that will deepen my wisdom and understanding of the dharma, and to become friends with two particular people I desire to get to know better, God-willing.
I spend most of my time with my friends Cassidy, Jagger, and Lou. These people have helped me be my best self by teaching me that stigmatizing individuals without getting to know them first is one of the most unloving thing you can do, that even simple activities like watching a movie can teach very important spiritual lessons, that teasing is one of the best ways to bond, and that a true friend respects you regardless of who you are or what you do.
I no longer need to hide. I can be myself fearlessly and show the love that I AM. If anyone does not like who I am, that is their choice, but hiding my real self for the rest of my life is not helpful. As Nelson Mandela puts it, “There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that others won’t feel insecure about you.”
I should remember to appreciate the splendor of nature and of others’ beauty, both inner and outer. This is a reminder of the divinity within the creation and within the Divine Spark in each person made in God’s image.
Perhaps, if I gave up the need to be right, I would be more willing to listen to the insights of the other political party. I am still struggling with this since this last election, but there might be some useful insights from the other party’s values that I might not have thought of. Getting rid of the need to be right will certainly help me listen more to others, especially those with whom I disagree, and learn wisdom from them.
I am grateful for food, which has come through a long process of creation, evolution, and human labor and which is a sign of God’s Presence and Providence for everyone; for school, in which I grow in wisdom and insight about the world each day; for a home, where I can spend time with family and animal companions and can enjoy the warmth and leisure of the comfort of the house; and a car, by which I can travel a thousand miles in just a couple days. In the past, people would die trying to do this by camel, horse, or foot!
To me generosity means treating others the way I want to be treated, especially by giving to them what I would otherwise want for myself and giving 10% of my income to beneficial causes, whether charities, the church, a homeless person, or someone stranded.
My heart is yearning to give and receive love from everyone, even those who may seem harder to love; to grow in more and more wisdom in an ongoing process of enlightenment; to recognize my ability to perform miracles as a divine being with power; to grow in higher awareness everyday; to put my goals and desires into action; to have ample time for rest and leisure; to see the Love and Presence of God in everything; to have abundant health and wellness; to forgive those who have done wrong; to ...

My home in Colorado, my home in Platteville, my dorm at Doane University, and Doane itself are truly places that have been home and have felt like home to me.
Doing my dharma is what matters to me. Whatever is right to do and in line with my individual and collective dharma is all I should focus on.
In ministry, so many have gone before me for whom I am grateful! Yeshua of Nazareth, Paul, Yakov, the Johannine community, the Pauline community, the Matthean community, Valentinus, Basilides, Thomas Aquinas, Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, Mary Baker Eddy, Marcus Borg, Ben Konecny, Nate Miller, and so many others have inspired me with wisdom greater than that of Solomon and are models to me of what it means to be a saint and to live like Christ.
Hal, my feline animal friend, always knows when I am upset or not feeling well and cuddles with me. It’s kind of like he senses that I am not doing well, and he gives me some companionship. I love Hal so much and can’t wait to see him Tuesday night!
This is the Buy Nothing Project. You can join by going to their website (just Google it). Then, click find a group. After that, select your country and state. Click the appropriate region for your area, and fill out the information it asks for. Eventually, you should get a message on Facebook saying that you have been approved to join (still waiting to be approved myself, but I am excited about this).
Eh…the hard thing about that though is I really feel like the other party just wants to get more money by appealing to their base, and I feel like the people who voted for them genuinely hate anyone who thinks, acts, or looks different from them. I’ve talked to some of these people, and it’s hard for me to hear what they say when a lot of it is just spewed hate, and I think these politicians know damn well what they’re doing and know that it’s their own interests...

I’ve talked to some of these people, and it’s hard for me to hear what they say when a lot of it is just spewed hate, and I think these politicians know damn well what they’re doing and know that it’s their own interests, not those of the people, but then again, it’s hard to know. I just try to have faith that it’s all part of a process of love and that there is no one to blame. Maybe it’s all just a role-play. I don’t know.
