Gratefulness
I am not only grateful for “good” experiences but also for the “bad” ones too, because it is these experiences that bless us with wisdom.
I intend to put Tim Freke’s book, The Mystery Experience, on a shelf in our choir classroom, so that someone else can read it from the lending library and have a deeper experience of the spiritual beauty and mysteries all around us. I can also share the cash I receive with the homeless when they need it. I can also have a playful, joyful presence so that those who feel empty may find that playful, joyful, loving part of themselves too. Furthermore, I can discuss and debate scriptural te...

I can also share the cash I receive with the homeless when they need it. I can also have a playful, joyful presence so that those who feel empty may find that playful, joyful, loving part of themselves too. Furthermore, I can discuss and debate scriptural texts with people of faith so as to help both them and myself grow in knowledge of God. I can also help those who are stressed, depressed, or lonely find a sense of inner peace by being there to listen to them and show love and compassion to them. Furthermore, by demonstrating the power, love, and wisdom of my divinity, I can show others that they, too, are divine, so that they may experience the Messiah-Presence within. I can also encourage others to do what they set out to do with determination when they feel unconfident, so that they can know that nothing is impossible and may accomplish whatever is their heart’s desire. I can cultivate healing/faith abilities so that I can heal the sick so that they can function again. Finally, I can help those who feel afraid of God or who feel that God is absent or has abandoned them in their journey by listening to them, showing compassion, and guiding them with insight, so that they may see that God is LOVE and nothing else.
Anita Moorjani, Dan, Ben, Nate, Toni, and the cross country team have inspired me to live my most authentic life by reminding me to not be ashamed of who I am and allowing me to see, experience, and act in new ways so as to transform my life.
To me, “enough” is when I have genuine connection and continually progress in my wisdom. The second is there. I am on a continual process of growth and knowledge. Right now, I am seeking genuine connection. It’s hard to find time to be with others when I am so busy between work and school, but now that my work is settling down a bit, I think I may have more time to make connections.
I am grateful for the voices of the ancient and modern thinkers who wrote the books I read and for the voices of the teachers who allow me to grow in wisdom each day. I am also grateful for the voices of the documentary I watched yesterday about the importance of cultivating inner peace to create world peace and of the voice of pastors and priests in preaching the gospel that leads us to love one another. I am also grateful for the voice of my cat meowing and my dog barking or “talking....

The spark of Divinity, Love, and Wisdom within me. I often forget this Divine Spark and so, forgetting my true nature, cease to have love and compassion and become numb to the world. Remembering the spark of divinity brings back my powerful, wise, nurturing qualities.
Fulfilling my dharma and growing in ethical wisdom so that I can do what is right is my motivating force. I have been sent here on a mission, and I am urgent to do what it takes to accomplish that mission.
There’s a person on my sports team who is really obnoxious-and I mean really obnoxious! Not to mention, he’s kinda racist, sexist, homophobic, and generally disrespectful to people too. Still, I need to work on being more patient with him because he is a divine being too. Maybe, it was just how he was taught, or maybe he doesn’t understand the impact of his words in actions. In any case, I ought to treat him with dignity as a being made in the image of God.
I am grateful for my relationships with my parents, my animal companions, my cross country teammates, Emily, my friends in Cru, Kate, Jess, my professors, Nate, Ben, Kaelan, Katy, Christine, and, above all, with Source, the unending gift of Love and Compassion!
Always give thanks before eating a meal, remembering that the meal is a sign of God’s Presence and Providence. Furthermore, remember to hallow meals by making them inclusive and inviting outcasts and sinners to the table.
More alert. I feel like when I return to my center of peace, I have more clarity on what is necessary in the moment. It is like the Taoist notion of emptying oneself in order to have the kind of awareness that makes wise decisions in the moment. Have inner peace and awareness, not too much mental clutter.
I think, for me, it is a fear of being willing to be myself and show others my divinity. I am getting much better at this, but sometimes, I am less willing to disclose and be authentic than I wish I was. Today, I intend to be my divine self-and that without shame.
Think about where God’s Presence shows up in unexpected ways. Sometimes, we want Her to blow stuff up or rain fair from heaven, but such spectacles aren’t the greatest miracles. When we eat, we should remember that this is Providence’s gift. When we see animals and people, we should remember that they are divine beings made in God’s image and that they evolved through a long, complex process involving life, death, and the surrounding environment all playing on one anot...

When we see animals and people, we should remember that they are divine beings made in God’s image and that they evolved through a long, complex process involving life, death, and the surrounding environment all playing on one another. When we think that there is a lack of something, we need to live as if whatever is lacking is there, and then sometimes, we might find that whatever seemed to be lacking was there all along. In essence, look for where God is speaking in the silence and where Providence is giving where there is a need.
Love would not judge even those who seem the most “unlovable.” Love says hello to everyone I pass by. Love fights for justice and mercy. Love says, “What is mine is yours; I own nothing.” Love forgives all wrongs. Love checks ones biases and privileges, seeking to make everyone equal. Love befriends outcasts and sinners, like Jesus did. Love is grateful for the kindness and even the unkindness of others. Love is generous, especially to the needy. Love applies to all pe...
Love applies to all people, irrespective of race, ethnicity, past mistakes, sexuality, gender identity, or ability. Love says “no” to injustice while having compassion on its perpetrators. Love “falls in love” with everyone, human or animal. Love cries and laughs with others. Love co-creates through joyous thoughts. Love is humble yet sees the greatness in oneself. Love sees beauty but helps those who experience ugliness. Love is unconditional. Love does not harm yet is authoritative. Love is fair yet loyal. Love is pure, yet love touches what is impure to cleanse it. There is nothing like love. To love God and neighbor-that is the Torah, Nevi’im, Ketuvim, Gospel, Acts, Pauline Epistles, General Epistles, Apocalypse, and Qur’an.
This summer, I will be taking a trip to Vietnam and Cambodia, God-willing. I have always had a slight phobia of traveling, but I think this trip is a call for me to explore territory way out of my comfort zone to learn to live more adventurously. Can’t wait to see all the cool sites, food, and Buddhist temples!
Fulfilling my dharma is ultimately the one priority that matters to me. Nothing else really matters except fulfilling the mission I came to fulfill. Anything else is a waste of time.
I think maybe I can let go of my need to do extra things, along with the things that need to be done. Maybe for the rest of the year, I can just focus on what is required, so that I will have more time for rest and leisure.
Getting my cat, Hal, almost two years ago! He is the sweetest thing, and from the start, we knew he would be a very friendly cat! He will come sit on our lap (sometimes when we’re trying to get stuff done, though! LOL) and give us love while we pet him. He’s the sweetest little kitty!
Being kinder to others. I have a bad (or, I would say, fearful) habit of avoiding eye-contact when passing by another person, because I start to feel shy or anxious. I think a practice I can start doing is saying hello to anyone I pass by. Something as small as that can be a first step in exploring myself as a spiritual being of love.
Caring for others allows me to give and receive love from others and opens me up to connecting with others. It is not just the person who is cared for who receives a gift, but myself as well because of that feeling of connection. Furthermore, it gives me a balance between my individuality and freedom and my union, interdependence, and interconnection with others. I intend to be more loving to others, so that I may open myself to more joy.
Remembering that I AM a divine spiritual being having a human experience helps me get out of patterns of negative thinking about things that seem “impossible” or “too hard to achieve.” Whenever I get caught up in negative thinking, remember this and affirm, “I change my thinking and change my life.” Today, I have hope that my intentions matter and will create the sincere desires of my heart.
