I’m very grateful for your reflection today as it reveals an important distinction. One particular phrase struck a chord with me: ” [A] teacher might greet his or her students each day but without this inner attitude of gratitude, the greeting would not be a gratitude practice.” Too often in my busy teaching day I find myself going through the motions of greeting my students but I neglect to be mindful about it. I want to connect with my students mindfully and gratefully yet often I allow distractions to get in the way. What a powerful practice to pause before entering the threshold of our teaching day. Thank you for this gentle reminder about such a positive and powerful practice.
