Some would argue that it comes from within
Not under a rock
Or up a tree
Nor out on the lake
For heaven’s sake

In my heart, with all I have
I do believe that you are out there
Up there, watching over us all
But it get’s so damn hard
With each and every failure

They call it faith because it is believing in that which we can’t see
l struggle, a fist fight with myself each day
Coming to grips with you and your unwavering love for me
Most of the time, I give up on myself
And it never ceases to amaze that you don’t
Ever quit

I search my sole, the roads I walk
Praying that the truth lies around the next bend
Black and white, fitting neatly into the box
My quest for answers often yields only more questions
So, another day begins anew

Happy Trails

Sun barely risen
So too am I
Another August mornin’
Punchin’ doggies

Feels like far
Since I left my mam and pap
Wrote em’ once
Think I was in Arkansas

Man said head west son
There’s good land for the takin’
Sweet water runs along the ridge
Good grazin’ as far as the eye can see

Best keep movin’ the herd
Gotta reach New Mexico by November
Some good ol’ boys helpin’ the ol’ man
Makes the saddle ride a bit smoother

When she’s done
Might just set a spell
Arizona in December
Seems about right

Nothin’ finer then sun settin’ on the trail
Me and the boys sittin’ round the fire
Tall tales about runin’ cattle
Taller still about the loves
Won & lost along the way

It’s a good life
Yes sir, a good ol’ life

Dear Anna, I’ve never stopped asking why…………why some hate, why school children die at the hands of a madman, why some are blessed with so much, while others stand on a corner holding a tin cup and a cardboard sign. My heart breaks during the evening news, and still I thank God for all my blessings that I don’t truly deserve.
I have no answers Anna. All I can do, for my portion, is to offer others random acts of kindness whenever I can. We can’t stop all the suffering, or stem the evil tide of violence. We cannot end the conflicts throughout the world.
But, there is much good in the world. We have to have faith and hope that good will endure, it will survive long after evil dies.
Aine said it best…………”I cannot stop the pain for all, but if I can ease it for one who is in my path, then I have affected the whole in ways I cannot begin to comprehend”.

Hi Ose, echoing Manda’s thoughts. For myself, if we as a people could unite as one,across this blue marble we call earth, we could harness the power of love and compassion to share the abundance that some have, with those who have so little…..or nothing at all.
In the USA (where I was born), there are those who say “America First”. Dear God, why can’t we stand up and shout…….”World First”………share the food, care for the children, protect the environment, save endangered animal species.

Dear Manda, ramble on, for isn’t that why we come here?
I’ve been there myself, with most of my 4 footed friends never on a leash. Dogs need to be dogs, especially out in the wild, but It’s always a risk when they come upon one another. Luckily, my dogs behaved, and had but a few unprovoked altercations over the years.
Jack Bear’s gusto is, I’m sure, a joy to behold. It amazes me that dogs just keep going, in spirit and body. It’s inspirational!! We could all take a lesson from Jack and truly be in the moment.
Letting go is a tall peak to climb my friend. I have no easy answers, other than to start with the small things u need to release, before moving on to the mountain. For me, that is a work in progress.

Dear Ursula, Speaking for myself, I doubt if there is a true definition of making oneself right, or wrong. Speaking as one who is very self critical, if there is wisdom that comes with age, it may be that it’s a matter of letting go. Letting go of our burdens and fears, and letting go of self recrimination. I often find that I am much kinder to others, than I am to THenry. At times I’ve shut God out, or at least pushed him away, thinking I am so unworthy to be loved by Him. Thru the kindness and caring of others, esp. my children, I’ve come to understand that like no other, He loves unconditionally. I am learning each day to analyze less, to be less self critical, to release feelings deep within and allow God to lead the way. To believe in God, to have faith, means we must trust, not in ourselves, but in His divine wisdom. I know, all this is easier to say than to do. It takes work, but more than that, it takes faith. You are NOT alone my friend. Start small……..maybe once each day, try letting go of something that hurts you, holds you back. One small step……..and remember, like no other, He knows your heart, he loves you, and will never leave you.
