Gratefulness

Trees… I grew up in their loving embrace as a child of the forest. They carried my name on the wind as I sat high up in their branches, viewing my world far below. I hid there knowing I was protected, accepted and loved unconditionally. I felt their life force flowing through my own veins, pulsing with my own as our arteries intertwined and breathed new life into each other. The forest canopy was my unique place, an enchanted hideaway, where the birds sat with me and taught me to sing. They taught me to be silent and observe, to learn and grow strong and to love the sound of peace. They helped mold me into who I was meant to be. I am forever grateful for their wisdom, strength and nobility in a world that can sometimes be so harsh and unforgiving. Their grace calmed my fears and soothed my soul. I can think of no better place for a child to thrive but in the loving embrace of the trees.
