Gratefulness
I am a very grateful 68 year old man! A retired college counselor, who knows what it means to really appreciate and enjoy quiet!
If I am open to surprise, it means I might not be in control, I might give up control and that feels scary. I do want to be open to it, but I need to acknowledge that scary feeling and still be open to the moment.
It is sooo terribly hard for me, in this culture, middle class, success oriented, accomplishment/task oriented to appreciate the ordinary as extraordinary. I really do get the concept and like it but my first mental reaction is to resist it as “it can’t be true”. I will work with it.
