Gratefulness
That I opened my eyes this morning and, as the poet Jane Kenyon wrote, “got out of bed on two strong legs” is a gift.
Slowly. With true wonderment and overwhelming gratitude, as I am blessed every single day with beautiful whole food. Om, beloved Mother Nature! With tears for those who have not. With growing intention to be part of the solution to hunger.
Dear sweet Anna, I so sorry. It is my own fault the post is gone. I would like to say that I erased it by mistake, but that is not the truth. The truth is I that I deleted the post because I was feeling so exposed. I am so unused to sharing online that I often end up with a powerful backlash of anxiety. It was a bad moment for me that I did not realize would ripple out to you. I am sorry I caused you any concern. A big hug back to you.
Thank you, dear Anna. I send a big, big hug back. You are such a kind soul.
It is miraculous, the impulse to breathe! I so often forget. Right now, I close the eyes, breathe in ‘yes’ and to breathe out ‘thank you.’
Hello, Springerlady, I agree… very inspiring all the responses. I often come in at the ‘tail-end’ of these questions. More wagging that way 🙂
Hello Michael, I have seen that you are constant in your dedication to students and families. THANK YOU.
Just beautiful, R!
Elizabeth, I love the way you say “the answer lies somewhere in the interconnectedness of all people..” Even on days when we don’t feel we are ‘doing’ much, we might be of service just by our way of being. Your reflection helps me imagine that I might BE in essence ‘a glass of cool water’ to someone who needs it. Without even realizing. Thank you.
I agree, KC. A lovely way of saying it 🙂
Hello there, Always Learning! I am glad to see you here. I really have been touched by your comments over the months and just want to let you know that I am holding in my heart the very best wishes for you.
So true, Kathleen, thank you.
A gift wrapped in sandpaper — I love that! As Kathleen has said, your attitude is inspiring. I am sending my wishes for your continued healing.
Dear Ricardo, I am sorry for your sadness in having to say goodbye to as faithful and loving a family member as Bobo surely must be. I have been there too. Blessings my friend.
One of my very favorite parts of summer…. all the varieties of fresh tomatoes, and especially heirlooms with their many shapes, colors, and tastes. At the top of my list is Cherokee Purple!
Dear Pilgrim, I feel happy to read that you have reached a milestone on your journey of healing. Thank you for sharing part of your story. I have been on a similar path for several years rebuilding my health after crisis and have become so grateful that nutrition is a big part of the puzzle that I was able to take into my own hands after learning how.
Barbara, I was able to read the short story on the website for the recent film. Yes. Thank you.
It is good to hear of caring employers. And that you and your husband can feel at ease today. I do hope that the worst of your winter is past, dear Aine. My heart leaps at the mention of daffodils.
How lovely, Eva Liu, the simplicity and peace of the moment.
Hello Saoirse, thank you! I am touched through by Naomi Shihab Nye’s poem which is new to me. Oh, I am so grateful for libraries and librarians, how many lives they touch. Have a beautiful day.
