Gratefulness
I am in a “creative” profession that, however, does not give me most joy. I feel freer to express my creativity when on my own, organising my space, cooking a meal, writing or knitting.
Today I gave my daughter a birthday card made by myself, with a drawing of her favorite characters (pj masks ????). It said “happy birthday” and “love you” …it was nice to see her happy face
Starting with yesterday’s question, “what experiences are offering me perspective?” there seems to be a recurrent theme for me at the moment, and this is that my thoughts are not necessarily the truth. Yesterday, I had an honest conversation with my husband and realised how ashtray my thoughts can take me if I don’t check on what the other person is thinking. This may seem obvious to anyone else but it was a revelation for me. Now, how can I be kind to myself? I am gra...
I am grateful for this revelation, and I feel a deep compassion for myself and my husband.
You never know… I am grateful I went to the doctor and found knitting sets at the waiting rooms. This is part of a project, the patients use their time to make knitting patches grow. Somebody we don’t know will patch a blanket together and the blanket will warm up somebody, we don’t know who… All I know is that I have taken up knitting again just when I needed it, it is so relaxing and beneficial to me… it is nice to think it could also benefit somebody else
Once more the word of the day answers the question for me, I think integrity and awareness help me preserve what is sacred to me
– To question my thoughts against truth, thanks Byron Katie – To rest: that it is good for me to stay in bed reading or staring at the sky for two days in a row, that I won’t want to stay there forever, instead I will come out with more energy and joy, thanks Martha Beck
My eyes, I am grateful to be recovering from an allergy that has lasted over two months and I am now careful to stay less in front of phone and computer screens. I am trying to sleep more through listening to the Louise Hay meditations. I have also newly discovered “The Work” of Byron Katie, to deal with persistent stressful thoughts, and as she says “have the thoughts let you go”, it is truly amazing
It was not intended as a gift but husband and daughter have gone to see her grandparents till tomorrow and they have given me much needed time on my own ????
In my little kitchen I can see the tap from which water runs if I open it, a washing machine that does the work for me and a stove where I can turn the gas on, light it and cook. On top of this, I can see Jacarandas in bloom through the window
Places like the majestic mountains humble me, and daily moments looking at the ever changing sky, clouds and birds through the window give me calm
Antoinette, I learned the basics of knitting with the nuns in primary school, I can’t remember at what age (it’s amazing how early the Norwegians start!), and took to knitting again recently through a charity project at my doctor’s waiting rooms. I thought I had forgot but, once I asked the ladies at reception, I realized I could still do it and, as you say, I found it so relaxing… I also find it is a great way to connect with other ladies and I am planning to join a k...

I thought I had forgot but, once I asked the ladies at reception, I realized I could still do it and, as you say, I found it so relaxing… I also find it is a great way to connect with other ladies and I am planning to join a knitting group at a church near me. I am glad I could connect with you as well, it doesn’t matter if we are not so good at it haha!
Thank you dear Anna !! I am touched by your note ????
????
Exactly Aine ! That’s how it feels, first the fog then the light. Will keep in mind the periodic check ins, even with an old friend of mine, thanks for the feedback,, wishing you patience with yourself and radical self-care, as Anne Lammot would say… ????
Thanks Ed, it was good to read your reflexion at this moment when it feels particularly forceful to me to look for the good in others. Loving what is, as Byron Katie also says, feels gentler and truer.
Dear Ursula! I am happy to hear from you ! and thank you for this tip, I hadn’t heard about euphrasia but I will look for it, I am always keen on finding natural remedies, thank you dear friend, love to you ???? Palm
