This has been true for me at times during my life as well. Safety, especially physical, was one need that was a fear for me as a child and living in a high crime area for many years. Right now, we are emerging from a very difficult span of time financially, physically, and emotionally where although our basic needs did get met most of the time, the very real concern about whether they would be was an ever present companion. Now that things have improved, the knowledge of that time makes me even more grateful for the consciousness of my needs being met now, perhaps in ways that one who never had that concern cannot understand. Am working on childhood trauma issues around abandonment and security. I truly hope to one day feel a sense of belonging and security. I have much gratitude for what I do have in my life. I have recently had some experiences that have been helping me feel that sense growing in me. It caused me to realize how different the world can seem to those who never had to question if they were loved, or would be safe, or to live on the eggshells of an abusive environment.
