Gratefulness
I am an Essene Christian ( read as Esoteric rather then Exoteric) referencing the teachings of Dr Stylianos Atteshlis (aka Daskalos)
Who/what needs my compassion right now?
Within the very nature of every act of Compassion is the Self evident fact that it is itself an ALL encompassing Power, ( most often called “Unconditional Love” in current times.)
Compassion cannot, in fact, be “pin-point” directed, although it is perfectly fine to do so if it IS an “Unconditional Love” intention. ( “Unconditional” imply that here is no egoism operating behind the intention...
Compassion cannot, in fact, be “pin-point” directed, although it is perfectly fine to do so if it IS an “Unconditional Love” intention. ( “Unconditional” imply that here is no egoism operating behind the intention)
Compassion automatically goes towards ALL and ANY where it detects imbalances in the physical, psychical or Noetical worlds. IOW Compassion is our ability, ( through will-power) to activate Divine Grace.
I appreciated the moderator’s question, but I must explain that in my Christian meditation practices , especially that the 9:00 pm “Global Compassion Meditation” my visualization encompasses our beautiful blue globe with pink light. I give no intention to a specific location, perceived problem, etc etc. Divine Grace and Wisdom takes care of its distribution.

If I take full responsibility for my part in any difficulties, how would this change things?
Very strange question! How would it change things?
Most likely it would just add to the “difficulties”.
Rather then imagine what “part(s)”, one thinks one contributes to any “difficulty” why not simply accept that there “appears” to be some sort of difficulty and leave the “altruism” out of it all together?
Th...
The Best “responsible” action is to stay open and get to work and clear the air. In that approach the Higher Self is taking the action, potential for wisdom there then ……and egoism ( in the form of Altruism ) can’t cause MORE confusion and troubles.
Hafiz’s poem “Crooked Deals” speaks well to ego’s tricks……and turns it into a reason to smile at it instead.
Crooked Deals
There is
A madman inside of you
Who is always running for office —
Why vote him in?
For he never keeps the accounts straight.
He gets all kinds of crooked deals
Happening all over town
That will just give you a big headache
And glue to our kisser
A gigantic
Confused
Frown
This would mean that I managed conform to Matt 6:22 to 34 and/or what the New Age calls “Being in the Now” ( Tolle and company ) and Very much open to Maslow’s “Mystic Moments” as quoted by Br David in his “Deeper then words”. This “Mystical Moments” point is a overlook by most spiritual discussions BUT is potentially the most “attitude changing of them all.”

Bottom line here, I prefer simply calling it “being in the wisdom of a child”
Matt 6:22 The eye is the lamp of the body; if therefore your eye be bright, your whole body is also lighted. 23 But if your eye is diseased, your whole body will be dark. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how much greater will be your darkness. 24 No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and like the other; or he will honor , and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (wealth). ……………….and on to /……………………..
33 But seek first the kingdom and his righteousness, and all of these tfi1ngs shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry for tomorrow; for tomorrow will look after itself. Sufficient for each day is its own trouble.
Closing off with an overview of “Mystic moments”…
“peak experiences” as decisive for an understanding of religious faith. In our peak moments, we experience existential communion with an ultimate reality that transcends our own limited self. This experience is so basic that we cannot reasonably doubt its insight. It makes no sense to ask, “Is this real?” because what we encounter here is the reality that sets our standard for all that is real. One of the leading psychiatrists of the mid-twentieth century, Maslow set himself the task of finding out what characterizes people whom one would consider models of mental health. To his great surprise he found that the psychologically healthy, highly creative, and resilient people he examined had one thing in common: mystic moments. They reported experiences in which they felt a sense of limitless belonging and experienced the goodness and beauty of all that exists-very much like the great mystics of the different spiritual traditions. Maslow spoke of “peak experiences” because his colleagues frowned upon the term “mystic,” but to the end of his life he insisted that there was no difference between the two.
How can I take a higher road of love, acceptance, forgiveness, kindness?
The same response here as to yesterday’s Daily question is in order here …
Through the golden keys to the Kingdom of Heaven, observation, concentration and meditation ( and applying gratefulness to the end result to each one of those ) we learn to see the seven heavens in us.
When material life grows heavy, instead of looking outward to solve problems, we should tum inward to find peace and h...
When material life grows heavy, instead of looking outward to solve problems, we should tum inward to find peace and happiness.
We have to work patiently, always remembering that spiritual truth and awareness are two of the greatest gifts of our Father.
We must realize that we have been placed in a certain position in life, with karmic responsibilities and opportunities. To grow spiritually we must honor both our gifts as well as our debts. If we are not conscious in this world as it is it is as if we were not really living. And, if we are not conscious of God within us, we cannot expand and become aware of the Eternal Now .
By turning life into a meditation ( followed by gratefulness ) it will allow the Truth behind the expression …”seeing one’s Self in the “Other”” to come out.
Reflecting upon how I feel at this moment: might I behave differently if I knew this was the last time I would ever feel this way?
My reaction to this question is…..Yes do a reflection first……and know and accept….. that I am, as a Soul, ….a never changing Infinite Being experiencing something the lower mind calls “existence.”
In that experiencing,….. feelings, emotions, thoughts, bodies, (every kind of form imaginable), are constantly changing and that tempora...
In that experiencing,….. feelings, emotions, thoughts, bodies, (every kind of form imaginable), are constantly changing and that temporary part of my personality, the egoism, is constantly trying to convince itself that, “O’ my “feeling” are Sooo Important!!”
So the critical point within this question is to first establish ….
Who is doing this “reflection” and what is it reflecting on?.
Is it a refection done on egoism’s “feeings” by egoism itself? ….OR…. is it Soul sensing the infinite beauty it is?
If it is the former ( the egoism) then, weather it is a pleasant feeling or an uncomfortable feel, its reaction will be one of fear and/or remorse because the one thing egoism knows (and resists energetically) is it temporariness ….IOW it’s, ( as it is implied in the question) “Oh, I might not ever feel is way again.” BooHoo!! ????
If it is the latter, ( the Soul ) then the only response will be, not to itself but to the egoism’s silly antics, a smiling “So What ?!”
Be Well Be Present in the, “So What !”
How can I be more open to life’s moments?
I see this question from the moderator(s) as a direct reference to the “Daily Word” quoting to wonderful Persian poet Hafiz.
“I wish I could show you, when you are lonely or in darkness, the astonishing light of your own being!” HAFIZ
As the anonomise person (below) has use the “light a candle” as their method of staying open….I an Essene say YES! to that example. ( and what an anc...
As the anonomise person (below) has use the “light a candle” as their method of staying open….I an Essene say YES! to that example. ( and what an ancient and Universal method it is). Besides the breathing technics , also mentioned below …….
if one makes it a conscious habit to develop the natural ability of observing / witnessing one’s own “Internal Light” ( and the candle flame is a perfect starting point / reminder / of that “Internal light” ) one quickly burns away the persistent veils which blur ones vision of the beauty which is always ‘there’ before our very eyes …thereby….. and again and again, stay more open to “Life’s Moments”
This awareness of one’s “Internal Light” is a constant theme in all of Hafiz’s poetry …”The Vintage Artist” is but one good example.
THE VINTAGE ARTIST
The Difference
Between a good artist
And a great one
Is that the novelist
Will often lay down his tool or brush
Then pick up an invisible club On the mind’s table
And helplessly smash the easels and Jade.
Whereas the vintage artist
No longer hurts himself or anyone
and keeps on sculpting

What “limiting beliefs” do I wish to move beyond? What might help me do this?
This is the same question as yesterdays, just using a slightly different ‘word-ology’ to addressing the question of Doubt as it applies to being a Human being experiencing itself as Life itself.
So I will respond by cut-quoting the response I made yesterday
Is Life experience a “task or a mission”? The differentiation between “task and mission” is one of attitu...
Is Life experience a “task or a mission”? The differentiation between “task and mission” is one of attitude. And “Gratitude” is the 99% of attitude which makes every life decision a “mission” rather then a “task” .
And as for the trailer question, “What might help me do this?” ( I would have preferred the question to read “Why might help me to cleans my egoism of Doubt”)
There is only one option as far as “what might help” and that is …
….. with confidence and gratitude, ( iow True Faith and not blind faith) continue to experience the Truth of what Life IS, without criticizing the current ( perceived) conditions.
This is implied in James 1:4, “Allow perseverance to finish its work, so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything”.
The “you” in James 1:4 is referring to the Temporary Present day personality and NOT the Soul-Self which has always been and always will be, “mature and complete”.
The Temporary personality’s egoism must “allow perseverance” which of course is just another way of saying “allow Divine Grace to flow through your Being-ness and the cleaning away of Doubt will get done. After all is said and done, this cleansing process is unquestionably part of the Divine Plan.
A song writer once said, “There is a crack in everything That’s how the light gets in”. ( L. Cohen)
But that is not the full truth. The so-called “cracks” also let in the light get out so others can see it and experience it as Life’s internal/external “Being-ness”, the potential which Divine Grace has bestowed upon us.
Thanks for sharing you light Matt .EdS
Is my life a task or a mission? Or something else entirely? Most definitely BOTH !!
Firstly It is “something else entirely” because “LIFE is incomprehensible Beingness”. ( fuller description below)
And it is “task or a mission” ( the differentiation between task and mission is one of attitude and “Gratitude” is the 99% of attitude which makes every life decision a “mission” rather then a “task” ) because the Present Day pers...
And it is “task or a mission” ( the differentiation between task and mission is one of attitude and “Gratitude” is the 99% of attitude which makes every life decision a “mission” rather then a “task” ) because the Present Day personality is here, experiencing Life as “Beingness” in a mortal form(s) ( Physical, Psychical, Noetical) simply to receive lessons. Lessons so that the Permanent Personality ( which is within and part of the Soul) will know and be able to utilizes its Infinite Self-hood to greater degrees of perfection within the Eternal Now.
A quote…for a more detailed explanation.
“If someone asked, “What is LIFE?” everyone would immediately say, “I know what LIFE is.” But, do you really know what LIFE is? If you know what LIFE is then you know what God is! So I ask again “What is LIFE?” And the answer is: LIFE is incomprehensible Beingness. It is and exists. Being and existing are two different states. “Being” is eternal, without a beginning and without an end, in the Eternal Now. In eternity it is always “now.” We must come to an understanding of the Eternal Now.”

What advice has made a big difference in my life?
The Point of Contact for the teaching of Ahmesta Kebzeh ( pre-sufism) reassured me that…
“Everything you will ever need to know IS right there on the back of your eyelids”.
And Dr. Stylianos Atteshis ( Daskalos ) on the Teachings of Joshua Emanuel the Christ.
“Your are not going to become something that you are not already” and “Nothing comes from nothing”.
What are the daily gifts in my life from people I do not know (personally)? How can I pass those gifts on to others?
It is a “gift” to join in conscious intention …with All those who are participating in the Global Peace Prayer around the world. This is established as 9:00 pm each day in each time zone with a 10 minute prayer conveying the intentions as described below.
There is a call to all our brothers and sisters around the world to rise above the lure of...
There is a call to all our brothers and sisters around the world to rise above the lure of conflict and create powerful prayers of peace. True peace is not the opposite of war. True peace has no polarized counterpoint. It is a peace that the world itself cannot give. But this peace can be invoked in God and in our own true nature. By visualizing while praying for peace we are consciously creating angelic thought-forms full of love and understanding for all humanity. These prayers empower the vibrations of harmony and infuse reason into insane situations. Transcending the “Them verses Us” mentality also will also restore our personal peace and lead us into the greater realization that in truth, there is no “Them” everyone is “Us.”
When am I “in the flow?” How does this make me more available to life?
One of Rumi’s most often quoted poems address this question very well and leaves a lasting warm smile on those who catch the brilliance of it .
He presents it as a prayer / or conversation / between the lower self, the present day personality self, and the Higher Self, or, Spirit Soul Self.
The lower self says, “I would love to kiss you.” …
.and the Higher Self replies, ...
.and the Higher Self replies, “The price of kissing is your life”…….
And in that moment of being in of state of ( another Rumi phrase) “thatdeep down lowliness that True Love brings”…or “Flow”…. where the lower self transmutes itself ( co-vibrating within Higher Self) into its Higher Self, this state of Being-ness, brings forth a Self Realization and exclamation
….”Now my loving is running toward my life shouting, What a bargain, let’s buy it!!!”
What makes me hopeful?
A child’s smiling, all knowing, eyes.
Mary
Mary as the Sufis so rightly say …”It isn’t Thank You …it is “Thank Us, because all we truly ever have is each other.””
Yes, as I have read your summary I hear that you have grasped the point, Re: opening to the wisdom of Higher Self, very well.
I will take this opportunity to focus on one aspect not directly related to our sharing but worth highlighting. It is to do with ..
.what happens to that “Madman/crook...
.what happens to that “Madman/crook” (Hafiz’s name for egoism) when the observing consciousness shifts to being established within Higher Self?
Too many current phylosophys use the term “kill the ego”. This is very incorrect. The life energy held within the “Madman/crook” is transmuted into the Life Energy of the Higher Self as when…(in your words here) the ..”choice of opening myself to the wisdom of my higher self.” occurs. Then there s a empty shell which remains and the best thing to do with that empty ego shell is fill it with a Loving habit, so nothing counter productive to Higher Self can enter into that space. ( There are visualization practices to do that)
Divine Wisdom has designed our Being-ness within the Divine Plan so very wisely! No life energy is ever lost or waisted. You may have read of past masters say words to the effect…”those with the biggest falls ( break downs of big egos ) receive the biggest rewards”. Without all the mellow dramatics that statement is true only because, again, …the emptying of ego’s life energy is a gain to the Higher Self’s life energy. It is up to each Human Being to choice that energy flow potential and stay vigalent. ( as in Matt; 25 1-13 )
Be Well Be Present.
Mary,
I can hear your question but I do not wish to presume I “get” it completely because this sort of discussion requires a certain amount of communication ( back and forth if necessary ) to establish a common ground meaning of words related to the “what/who” are the layers of interaction in any Human communication.
You said….”Your answer actually makes sense to me, but when I get specific,…..”
That is why I included the term “Higher Self” here, I ...
That is why I included the term “Higher Self” here, I was being “specific” too. Specific because I intended to make a clear identification in to what / who is involved in Human interactions.
1) there is the egoism of the Present Day personality, the one who can have various reactions ….from “I contributed to this “problem” therefore I must apologize, I must correct it / contribute to correcting the problem, etc etc.” Or it can react from the opposite end …the , “I was right!! they were wrong Etc Etc”
2) Then there is your Higher Self which doesn’t make condemning judgments of, nor want to correct, the egoism’s behavior, for altruistic reasons, or because the egoism just wants to play the moral high ground. Nor does 2) wish to judge others for their 1) type behavior, it recognizes that behavior as “unconscious” and not the other’s “2) –ness” at all.
In your question, “Am I not responsible for being harsh with this person”
My response has to be ….firstly, every Human is a “Dual in One- Being-ness” we are both the 1) and the 2) , and 1) is but a small ray emanating out from 2) . So I continue the reply that …..yes, you could be VERY responsible …depending on which part of your self is doing the responding. Is it from 1) or from 2) ?
If you consciously make the wish to communicate to the other person(s) through your “2)-ness”, and carry through with a sincere apology then, true, you have carried out a “responsibility” as a Human being …but I want to continue here to your next question because it is very important.
Re your: “I would think that I would owe this person an apology.”
Well that would be a position-ality which 1) would take. How does the egoism know that the other person requires an “apology”? It could be very possible that he/she accepted ( right away or later while he/she did their own introspection on the matter) that you were “angry” therefore NOT you in your “2)-ness”. They could have been, ( as it is so commonly expressed in current spiritual terms ) “Present” in their being-ness and not offended at all.
I will stop here, I tend to get too wordy of this subject, but it is a very important topic for sure. It was around when Hafiz wrote his cleaver poem so we are not in new territory that is for sure!!
!Amen! to that “feeling” Brenda
You are Welcome Matt.
I trust and pray that your work will light up the lives of the many who are just simply looking for that ONE simple truth of who they are and what is truly important.

There are ( my opinion here) far to many books being published in the “Self Help” category which are only copying and repeating of what a similar experiencer has reportedly felt or read. But when it doesn’t emanate out of actual experiencing it lack SIGNATURE and becomes …as some have aptly named it, “Moral Grandstanding”.
The words of Robert Bly speak to counter this phenomena very well.
There are four things man does not need when at sea.
Rudder, anchor, ores or the fear of going down.
And Rumi also brings that blunt fact of life with his …”it takest deep down lowliness ….which shows what “True Love” IS.
Thank You Tammy . I hold prayer as the most effective “opener” or house cleaner too.
Re: “It requires to be alert and aware when we fall back, so I am currently observing myself and call myself back to the track when falling back into old habits of mind.”
Yes! ….James 1:4, “Allow perseverance to finish its work, ….and that takes the skill of Observation and patients while watching what doubts and tricks egoism will come up with in order to preserve it temporary life.
You are welcome. It is a an important initiative but one that has bee around in the heart of human beings for a long long time .
Rumi expresses it this way.
Out beyond ideas of ‘right doing’ and ‘wrong doing’ there is a field.
I will meet you there.
When the Soul lies down in that grass the world is too FULL to talk about.
Words, ideas, even the phrase “Each other”
