Gratefulness
I am running for an office in my little town in CT. Going door to door and talking with people has pulled me out of myself and opened me to the beauty and pain of others. It’s a profound experience.
I love this question. By stepping back from the urgencies to see and ground myself in the important. By feeling the presence and care of my a Higher Power. By pausing.
I am daily grateful for the strength to move relatively easily. I am also so thankful for my mind’s ability to find joy and curiosity, love and meaning.
It is always hard for me to reach out for support: I typically isolate and even withdraw. Nonetheless, I am supported by my beautiful daughters as they are able and by loving and gentle friends.
Stillness.
The dignity of believing they are worth pushing back on, that their resistance and despair are not in fact hopeless. My own courage and strength and belief in them.
Just wondering what the NPR show was! And very grateful to today’s question. My head is exploding, and mindfulness will really help.
You are speaking to my heart! As a former hs English teacher now in charge of literacy K-12, I have the same challenge and opportunity!

Don’t know if this is helpful, but I no loner listen to or read the news when I first wake up. I listen to an uplifting podcast. It has really helped.
