Gratefulness
I am drawn to the word of the day – Peace, like most beautiful things, begins small. In truth, I find this question a bit daunting.
Learning practices to accept and embrace my full humanness and that of others, showing up and doing/ being my best, I suppose the answer is yes.

I will sign off and create a few tasteful, hand-made “under construction” and “becoming human” signs for my desk. The computer and all devices will be tucked happily away for a blissful while. There will be no red ink or aggressive marks, and I may throw in a flaw or two to make it real!
Peace ????????????

In my relationship to work, contribution and being of service and fully connected with life! Slowly I am changing that and surrendering to allow it to change me, just as Victor Frankl suggests in the word for today.

Root deeply to feel peaceful and connected. Be present and aware. Find a deep smile within. Respond with a smile or gesture that shows the other person I see them and that they matter. Light, playful and fleeting is often good!
A softening, opening, deepening, more flexible, open heart. More open thinking, acceptance, courage and action that is true to my nature, more connected with the people, environment, beings and things in my midst and the world around. Greater congruency and alignment with my own interests, values, vision, goals, dreams …
Practicing gratefulness, I slowly find my place and path as a unique and vital spec in a vast universe. Experiencing interconnectedness is humbling, exciting and terrifying. Learning to give, receive, trust and surrender to love is worthy and humbling, breath by breath, day by day…
Oh my gosh. Where to begin! Thank you gratefulness team and daily writing friends. I will make a partial list and practice expessing gratitude. Perhaps a summer project! ????…

Before you know kindness as the deepest thing inside, you must know sorrow as the other deepest thing. You must wake up with sorrow. You must speak to it till your voice catches the thread of all sorrows and you see the size of the cloth. Then it is only kindness that makes sense anymore …

Fear, anger and numerous habits of avoiding uncomfortable emotions and felt senses. Also tons of protective habits of mind and body that prevent me from opening and committing to people, the moments and life as it is …
Does a river measure the moments as it flows towards the ocean? Is a tree mindful of time as it stretches to a more full or surrendered expression of it’s moment by moment life as a tree?

What a beautiful question. My intention for today is to savour, deepen into and embrace each moment as it is. Mindful of Grenwich Mean time and worldly commitments, I can practice pausing and surrendering to the moments connected to deeper time/space. I can imagine feeling more grounded, peaceful and connected. Perhaps I will breathe more deeply and show up more relaxed, present and available to each moment as it is, and the choices it offers. It is worth a go!
Sincere thanks for the question and many thoughtful reflections.
Gina, Wishing you much courage, gentleness and joy with these projects! Warmly, KC
Thanks Francine. I am slowly developing a memoir writing practice with an exceptional teacher and group. It is so affirming to hear about your approach, and the positive response you have received from your writing and publishing about sensitive subjects. I wonder whether Brene Brown would give a two thumbs up, to sharing and affirming our stories through safe practices and community! Warmly, KC
Ben, Wishing you whatever you need to allow yourself the gift – to pour yourself into writing. Wonderful image! Maybe songwriting as well? I always appreciate your gentle and thoughtful words on our wee online sanctuary… Warmly, KC
Hi Kevin, So good that you have access to many good options through traditional medical care. Also that working with youth informed a strong conviction to avoid addictive substances like pot. There is a huge and tragic issue in Canada now with youth and others overdosing from ‘street’ drugs used for pain management. I am with you on your approach. Small c conservative is good. Warmly, KC
Antoinette, I often pick up Man’s Search for Meaning and read small bits. Perhaps it is time to read it more closely with fresh eyes. I have placed it at the top of my reading pile, and look forward to more of Victor’s wise words. Sincere thanks! KC
Kevin,
My prayers are with you on greater ease and less pain as you move through this.. So wish I could offer more. ????????
Curiously, the Globe and Mail had an article yesterday about tons of seniors in Canada and the US using medical marijuana to manage pain. Many, it seems, are choosing this now as an alternative to prescription drugs. Who knew.

I am holding an image of you out rowing with your team and playing joyfully with your grandchildren pain free! I imagine Gracie is there too, happy and peaceful as ever!

Beautiful Jill. Thank you! ????
Such wise words Kevin. Thank you. Sending a band of happy angels to comfort and ease your back pain, and to companion you on that challenging journey ????…
Beautiful Aine. Thank you.
Hi Gina, I really appreciate your reflection. It often does feel like straddling the two types of time, and the magic of a more timeless experience can be so elusive. I wonder if there is a comfortable balance between the two worlds. On days when I arrive late for yoga, I feel blessed by a community that embraces the tension between the two ways of being, and the challenges of straddling the clock with the larger sphere. I suppose a desert island would bring boredom!? ????
