Gratefulness
Comes to mind the word of some days ago: “Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive” – Howard Thurman. Living gratefully helps discovering what makes you come alive
The thought that things won’t work out the way I want them to, because of course they will not always do! This has to do with many of the things already mentioned in previous reflections (thank you): past regrets, control, self critiism, perfectionism, shame…. Letting it go and thinking the opposite, that all shall be well eventhough things don’t work out the way I want, would feel liberating and perhaps, paradoxically, I will have Faith
I am priviledged to be a daughter of inmigrants, and have received the education they didn’t have and the wisdom the had galore. To have grown up getting enriched from two different cultures. I can share my gifts with others
I see greatefulness as appreciation, of all including ourselves. It uplifts the giver and the receiver. I think of how one feels, for example, when our employer or our spouse shows appreciation, or better yet when we appreciate ourselves. Years ago I decided that if I didn’t get praise, I would give it to mysel: “well done” I’d think, and it gradually changed everything. I can also feel the positive impact of my practice on this site and the connection found, since the...

I can also feel the positive impact of my practice on this site and the connection found, since the beginning of the year, it’s been like homecoming and becoming childlike again (with the benefit of experience 🙂
I need to shift my thoughts from what I am wanting to happen to what I’ve already got, which is a lot. Some times we get too impatient with the waiting, loose sight of the progress already made and miss enjoying the ride. Today I will count my blessings and forget about the waiting, thanks for the question
I am an empath and what I’ve learned is that this is useful only if it is channelled to give real help. I really don’t know what others would say are my greatest gifts, my husband once said I am good at knowing what is right and wrong…. this question makes me think that perhaps asking this question to trusted people would allow me to make the most of my gifts?
This is self accountability, not self blame, it is about looking at the whole picture, feel compassion for oneself and the other, forgive and move forward
Today is a public holiday for us and it’s as if Saturday had arrived earlier, normally that’s what I do on a Saturday: take the day as it comes, whith no timelines and most of the times with no plan. I realate this to the question because it is my way to rest, although there are still chores here and there. So maybe if we allow experiences to unfold with no expectation, we can have more rest, hence more energy?
Thanks Malag for clarifying this question, at least for me… Free, peaceful and joyful, so that hopefully I can be the change I want to see in the world
Have been touched by all the reflections shared and, after thinking for a while, a limiting belief I’d most like to move beyond is that I will be loved/ liked less for speaking my mind and being who I am. What might help is practice (as with everything), to face the fear and do it anyway, accept the losses, if any, and move towards a more genuine, peaceful and free self.
I was baffled by this question, so thank you for all the beautiful reflections
To pay attention to the reaction of my body when making decisions, or having thoughts. This was said to me by a counsellor years ago and it stayed in my mind, still I hadn’t really payed attention (why does it takes so long?) Lately I have been practicing it. Also, I am coming across readings on how empaths absorb energies from others, but can put boundaries to that. I have done it already and it’s wonderful to feel I am not helpless to external energies. Something I read and liked recently: if it’s not hell yes it’s no.

Yes, clearing the air is important too. I just want to add that your view Ed, which I cannot explain in words but I believe I understood, helped me deal with a situation in a different, more useful and peaceful way, and I followed this conversation with Mary. So, I say thank Us ????
Yes!
Love this, thanks for sharing Antoinette
Sending my prayers for that Deb
Dear Antoinette, wanting everything and everyone to be ok is a good wish and I woudn’t want to change that.. the thing is, one can only keep one’s side clean, and we have no control over the other side, which can only be left to God
