Sitting in the dark. Thanks to my grandma who taught me that the dark is soft and gentle because I was so afraid of it when I was little. Sitting in the dark is so peaceful, gentle and sweet. Also, falling asleep together with my granddaughter. We always talk until we fall asleep. It is as if our souls are speaking to one another.
You are passing the gentleness of your grandma on your granddaughter! It is a nice legacy!
Thank you, Anna. I certainly hope so
I experience serenity anytime I am staffing a youth retreat of Quaker children. At this very moment with almost 30 junior-high aged young people still sound asleep for a little while longer it’s nice to sit quietly with a cup of tea before the commotion of the day
I feel serenity when I’m in the present moment with my breath. When I make the choice of an attitude of gratitude.
Swimming and being at one with the world makes me feel connected.
Ah yes, swimming!
Two things come to mind immediately:
Listening to don Oscar Miro-Quesada, a Native American Indian shaman. I heard him talk about power of the Puma, and Shamanism. When he said pray, it felt like I left my body, and my muscles were the most relaxed ever.
The second thing is cuddling with a lover in a warm, snuggly bed.
I was not familiar with Oscar Miro-quesada, so I looked him up and watched a video on his shamanic journey. What a learned soul he is. Thank you for mentioning him.
being one with everything…floating in the water, looking up at the sky…..
lying in the snow, feeling the sun shining in the sky
being amongst the trees
all help me to feel awe, spaciousness….immense gratitude
In Assisi, in the place where S. Francesco heard Jesus on S. Damiano Cross speaking to him, and in the nearby Santa Clara Monastry.
The silence and the prayers of people seem to stop the passing of times.
Thank for the question, an to LJ saying she returns to her Great Buddha memory.
I should return to Assisi memory more often than what I usually do.

Thank you, Anna, for reminding me San Damiano. I remember that it was a wonderful place, and that, when I discovered it, decades ago, I felt such a wonderful rest and it had such a charm for me, much more than other places in Assisi …
I agree Ursula, much more than every other places in Assisi!
Lovely, Anna.
Sitting aside the Great Buddha in Kamakura,Japan.
Although both times people crowded the statue and the level of noise immense, suddenly I was aware of only the breeze with hawks circling above.
It is a memory, I return to often.

Only words that can be used to describe senses because its presence completely eliminates all thought processes.
So these words come to mind……Lovingness, peacefulness, comforting presence, protected, timeless, weightless, spaciousness, pinkish to rosy tint over all in the visible field, self ilumination, awe, receptiveness / no fear, harmony, endless joy, Self supported and Self evident.
