My Mind. Being unconscious, unaware, un-awakened. To appreciate the simple beauty that comes with any given moment, I must learn to quieten the mind and just be silent.
What keeps me from the simplicity of a given moment?
Plotinus …quoting here from Bucke’s ‘Cosmic Consciouness’
"He who does not understand how the soul contains the beautiful within itself, seeks to realize beauty without by laborious production. His aim should rather be to concentrate and simplify, and so to expand his being;......" End Quote
To be kept away from the "simplicity" ( IOW ...turned away from "Soul's beauty" ) ...... is to be drawn into any of egoism's three tricks...

To be kept away from the “simplicity” ( IOW …turned away from “Soul’s beauty” ) …… is to be drawn into any of egoism’s three tricks..
1) Identification with thought
2) Identification with emotions
3) identification with physical body
Ed, Bucke’s text is sitting right in front of me as I type this.
Yes, and interestingly the mind, body, emotions are all connected….and the soul just keeps on being……
Indeed and those three bodies and the etheric doubles are Holy, gifts from the Divine intelligence, given to a Soul to wear in each Human incarnation ….. the Soul is unchangeable / everlasting , as you point out “being”.
We are part of a simple but beautiful design but it comes with one responsibility …..learn to tame and control the egoism….and thereby keep it simple.
By over thinking it. I am reminded of this over and over again whenever I am with children. And fortunately for me I am rescued by children quite often.
I ran across a cartoon once that had one person saying, “I’ve been over thinking about over thinking again!” Too accurate sometimes. Lately, I have been getting rescued by chickens. I’ve been working on getting the little ones to see humans as not so scary, so I have been tossing oats over the fence. Now every time they hear the door, there is a mad dash to get to the fence. Watching chickens run dispels over thinking!
My neighbor, at 96 years old, who’s coop is up against our property, sings and talks to his chickens as he arrives to feed them. I’m not sure, but I think that there is a red carpet rolled out as he arrives every morning.
I bet there is.
No doubt they make him a lovely breakfast as well!
the opposite is the complexity . we all desire chaos naturally. in any given moment I think the fast paced environment keeps us from appreciating the stillness .. our thoughts jump from one thing to the next without us being able to slow them down at times. we may be very busy and there simply isn’t enough time in place.
