I am with Ben, Aine and Always Learning. As I learn to find and express compassion for myself, so I am able to offer, share and express it with others.
“I value friendship. I finally reached out to a group to set up a golf playday because one of my best friends will be visiting next week.”
I will slow down and be more mindful of my parenting.
I can reach out with caring to someone who is hurting and struggling.
Be kind outwardly, be loving inwardly, to all I encounter.
To be honest and humble, but softly, kindly, or – better – with a smile on my face, with a smile in my soul (this is harder, sometimes) wherever I go, whoever I meet, and in any situations.
This is a goal, My works are in progress, maybe it will be so forever.
I think we are all works in progress forever, Anna!
Perhaps the core value of my life is the belief that all are equal and should be treated accordingly. Today, I will strive to embody that value in my interactions with all that I come in contact with, even through written word.
I am in daily practice of the 4 Agreements from Don Miguel Ruiz:
1. To be impeccable with my word
2. To not take things personally
3. To not make assumptions
4. To do my best
I also maintain several daily conversations with God about my gratitude for the abundance I experience in my life.
Today, I hope to embody love of God by following what I believe to be part of my dharma: studying American history. I also intend to embody love of neighbor by showing kindness to my animal companions and to the Greeley Central cross country team I will be running with tonight.
I would like to embody kindness by going slow, giving myself hugs and loving messages and songs when I’m rushing or judging myself, allowing in beauty and resting in simple presence.
It seems to me there are days to start with kindness for myself, and this is one of them. And in filling myself this way (and overflowing my own cup with kindness), I see that it can’t help but flow out toward others, and allow me to be of service from the depths of my heart.
Beautiful Ben…
I am learning self-compassion, too, Ben. One of my teachers said, “This is the hardest thing you will do in your healing.”It is also one of the most rewarding.
Thanks Aine for sharing the wisdom of your teacher. Good to know that there are indeed rewards for taking on the challenges of learning to take good care of oneself!
Always smart to take care of our own immediate needs.
You are “putting on your lifejacket first.”
I would say that you are now ready to face your day…. generously.
How can I embody one of my deepest values today?
By living, embodied, within the Seven Promises I make to myself as a Researcher of Truth. Every moment of every day.
This question, and your thoughtful responses, especially Kevin's, prompted me to research the definition of the noun "value". It seems to be connected to "worth".
So, I may have a value of punctuality and also one of honesty, but they are, to me of unequal worth. When the chips are down, I would rather maintain honesty than go for being on time!
I value living in the present moment.
Today I will ask myself: "How important is it?" before responding emotionally or with judgment to any person ...

Today I will ask myself: “How important is it?” before responding emotionally or with judgment to any person or situation.
In that way I will try to honor one of my “deepest” values….
Kindness.
I agree… NO substitute for integrity.
love today’s quote, inspires me to reflect on the belief that love is not a feeling but also a state….
I would like to embody the belief that love and kindness are a state of being in the world.
it is actions and not my beliefs that will endure
One of my deepest values? I have many deep values….but ultimately I suppose they are all rooted in one: to recognize (re-cognize to) God. I can practice by being fully present in each moment, which is a challenge.
Cognition with God… really a blessing
Inner Peace is one of my deepest values.
Take time frequently through out the day to have a quiet moment to connect with the divine to point the way for the next moment.
Rigorous Honesty – this is a virtuous practice. It is essential that I remember to have and open mind – willing to listen. To do my best to discern the truth and discard the filters that affect my perspective. This requires practice. But, it brings worthy rewards of peace of mind and compassion. I allow my judgmental robe to fall and I connect with others in peace. I pray that I be blessed with a desire to practice rigorous honesty and therefore, live in serenity.
One of my deepest values (that I am dealing w presently) is never give up. I have a mtg w a school district this mrng n the tech stuff that worked isn’t working this mrng. Another value is finding positives hahhhh! It will work out n my message will come thru!
Oh goodness, I will add your day to my prayers for my colleagues that begin school on Monday. Most are in their classrooms this week preparing for a great year. I am retired, but have to say that I actually miss putting my elementary classroom together. I even miss the meetings! I KNOW… I must be crazy… but collaborating is great (when things are working.) The tech stuff just always seems to be doing something nutty. BUT, I sure did enjoy it! I hope your school year is full of blessings on a...

You WILL succeed. *<{:^D-\–< ((( *joy*
I guess one of my “deepest values” is that it is people that matter in this life. When I go to Shop Rite to do my food shopping today maybe I can be a little kinder, “softer” towards others.
For some reason today’s question has gotten me thinking immediately about the phrase, “to thine own self be true,” from Shakespeare’s Hamlet. The way I see it, my values, which inform and shape the way I live my life are basically on-going and the same from day to day. There are moments, sometimes whole days, when I am passionate about and focused on something that could be considered a personal value, though I never think of it in these terms. For myself though, I don’t have an experience of some values being deeper than others, unless, as I said, I get fired up about something!
