In my life journey I have encounter many angels that have giving me a lending hand and embraced my challenge/pain during the season of my life. I have received infinite mercy and grace from many whom Ive only heard off and not seeing. 4 Reply Nathandra6 years agoNathandraI am constantly reminded of purpose; however someday’s I am often questioned my purpose, without giving thought to how did I get here and what will I leave behind. 1 Reply Erich6176 years agoErich617I am reminded of a moment from my childhood. I think I was about 10 years old, and I was in the car with my mother. We were at a small intersection in my hometown, and another driver did something that aggravated my mother. I forget the details, but I remember her calling him a name. I looked at the man in the car and thought that he has had an entire life leading up to that moment--a childhood, hopes, relationships, disappointments, frustrations--and that my mother had reduced him to an "idi... I looked at the man in the car and thought that he has had an entire life leading up to that moment–a childhood, hopes, relationships, disappointments, frustrations–and that my mother had reduced him to an “idiot” or whatever name she called him. That person helped me see that everybody has a story, everybody is the star of their own life. That is why so many people whom I have never met can help me in myriad ways without me being able to comprehend the depth of that notion. I’ve come to believe each meeting or encounter or situation or person in the universe, whether i’ve met them or not, helps me cocreate the tapestry of my life. When I read her biography, I gained inner strength for meeting my own disappointments. I had similar things happen to me, but no cancer – thank God! Another biography I read that helped me greatly is the Story of Steve Jobs. I did not know he was adopted prior to reading his biography. Once again, faced with cancer he overcame so many things. His driven personality gave me an example to follow because I could see in the technology world how being driven by the negatives in his life gave him such solid gains. I will continue to read biographies of great people because it helps me realize they are ‘just regular people’ like myself who never gave up when faced with overwhelming odds of success. These are the people who have helped me, but whom I have never met. Read More3 Reply Sheila6 years agoSheilaRhonda, I also read Elizabeth Edward’s book and it was truly inspiring. Good point that the great people are ‘just regular people’ who never gave up. May you continue to enjoy reading people’s biographies. Ultimately, every experience I have had comes from someone else, as all are interconnected and interdependent. Read More3 Reply Aine6 years agoAineOh, goodness! There is quite a list, even divided by category! To take a hint from a Challenge exercise on KindSpring.org, I choose all the people behind the scenes whose daily work in this world provides me with the things we so often take for granted in daily life: water, power, hot showers, heat, warm food, a refrigerator, the ability to run the vehicle, listen to beautiful music, and connect with you all here! 8 Reply Trevor6 years agoTrevorVenerable Wuling 1 Reply Sheila6 years agoSheilaTrevor, if you don’t mind, may I ask who Venerable Wuling is. I am thankful and grateful to all these people all over our world who support me in one way or another on this journey, people who help me and I have never met them. It is a small world indeed. 4 Reply Michael6 years agoMichaelWe are direct recipients of accomplishments from those before. Also, I truly feel that I am receiving energy from everyone. When we all are living our best selves…we will collectively do better. Because our best selves looks out for our brothers n sisters n all of our children. 7 Reply Michael6 years agoMichaelThe response that comes to mind: All sentient beings. We are all interconnected in so many ways. We help each other, starting with simple kindness. 8 Reply Barbara Morris6 years agoBarbara MorrisCountless people! As I look around just my home, all the people who have created the inventions I use, the authors of books and poems I read, the people who made possible the food I eat and the clothes I wear. And something that’s had a huge impact on my family’s life is a government program that helps my developmentally delayed daughter life a very full life…i can’t even imagine how many people must have passionately worked to put that in place…thank you, thank you, thank you! 8 Reply Nancy6 years agoNancyI have to say it would be all of you. We have never met but each and every reflection of yours for the daily question helps me towards a more grateful attitude by helping me realize things I have never considered. You open my eyes and heart to other ways of seeing things. 9 Reply Aine6 years agoAineAmen! 2 Reply Palm6 years agoPalmAt this very moment I am listening to the songs of a singer I love, it helps me pass my office hours. It also makes me feel the longing for my culture (thinking of yesterday’s question), which may prompt me to connect and in so doing enrich my life. 7 Reply Kevin6 years agoKevinOkay, I am stumped by this question. As far as I know I have met, in one way or another, those who have helped me at various times of my life. I suppose it is possible that someone whom I’ve never met has helped me at some point, but it’s hard to recall someone if you haven’t met them. 2 Reply 1 2 Next » My Private Gratitude Journal Write an entry in your private gratefulness journal Get Started This site is brought to you by A Network for Grateful Living, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
