Gratefulness
I would be overwhelmed with emotion. Just thinking about how I am doing this; so I know it would be a deeply personal and emotional period.
???? I taught elementary school for 40 years. It would be impossible for me to name a specific individual as I consider many teachers and administrators as my mentors… both older and younger than me. That is something wonderful about being a teacher. It is very much a collaborative effort. I will add that I worked with teachers, who were taken away by health issues, that I felt really highlighted my learning and teaching. I am blessed more than anyone I know… at least I feel like I am. ??...

Peace, understanding, tact, respect, generosity
Today, it is my friend Becky. She has come to the end of options for her cancer recurrence, and is living still with optimism, dignity, and joy. My heart is so full of awe and respect for her and her journey. My problems seem to pale in comparison; and instead, I’m rallied to live fully and authentically.
???? Thank God for your meals before you eat. Also, thank your food for nourishing you… giving its life to you, for you. I personally have learned to put my fork or spoon down during my meal to make it a longer and more consciously enjoyable experience. Food is not just a pit stop. ????
It makes me feel focused, and yet able to let go. That dichotomy seems unlikely, but does so much to make me feel safe, calm, and in the amount of control that is necessary. ????
Take time daily to work on your gratitude list, even just to read it and ponder its glory. I believe the biggest part of seeing something’s value is to visit and revisit it in our minds and hearts.
Courage and peace as I go through dialysis with the goal of a second kidney transplant. ???? (My first transplant lasted from 1998 to 2016.)
???? This new day, Each breath, My faith ????
• Release judgement ❤️ • Forgive myself and others ???? • Stay present in the moment ???? • Listen ???? • Act, not react ????
A smile… extra service… patience… courtesy… lack of judgement ❤️????????
What a wonderful reminder. I am going to commit to sending cards to those who support me in my current health situation. I had a kidney transplant that lasted for 18 years. It failed about 20 months ago. I am back on dialysis, and on the transplant list. Things are pretty tough. I have a handful of friends that are supporting me by helping with chores and doctor visits. They MORE than deserve a card. I believe that cards to my dialysis staff, dietician, and social worker would also be importa...

Forgive myself… and not beat myself up. See that little first grader in myself, and treat myself as he should have been.
By being authentic, honest, and acting with integrity.
Make contact with them to let them know that they are not invisible. ????♂️ ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Depending on the extent of your relationship, you may offer to help them with a task; visit them in person to chat and support them; call them and let them talk, being positive toward their eventual recovery or resolution to an issue; send a card, flowers, or gift that would be affirming; or contact them through social media....

The bottom line is… do something. My personal favorite. is when someone asks in person or over the phone, “What can I do to help?” I know from my own experience that isolation makes the situation worse, and that knowing you are noticed is the first step to rebounding.
They listened to me when I really needed to talk. They were nonjudgmental and reassuring. EVERYONE deserves this. ❤️????????????????
I LIKE THIS! What a positive suggestion. Thanks very much! ????
As a dialysis patient who gets stuck with 2 large needles (sometimes, like yesterday…3,) three times a week for 4 hours, I understand completely! ????
I feel the same way, Christina. Bringing laughter often takes away the sadness or blues of the moment. It fills empty spaces with joy. THAT is a gift!
I have spent the last 18 months waiting for a transplant. I wish time felt a little more illusory somedays. ????☺️
