Gratefulness
I haven’t been around my immediate family for the past week and it’s been really challenging for me. But I have a few friends who are also loved ones, and they have reached out to check up on me. I am grateful for people at work, people who I volunteer with and for, as well as good friends. All beings can be loved ones.
The wonderful feeling of my sons arms around me giving me a great big bear hug fills me wit gratitude and love. The glimmer of sunshine breaking through the clouds after the the rain makes me wonder and feeling well rested after an after noon nap makes me feel grateful that I took the time to rest when I needed it.
Being that I am a teacher I have certain qualifications which enable me to work as a teacher teaching various subjects. I feel grateful for having chosen to be a teacher because it allows me to be around teenagers and to serve in a way that is very rewarding. Having said that, teaching can be a super exhausting job as well! Maybe all jobs are? Being that I am a teacher I have certain qualifications which enable me to work as a teacher teaching various subjects. I feel grateful for having chosen to be a teacher because it allows me to be around teenagers and to serve in a way that is very rewarding. Having said that, teaching can be a super exhausting job as well! Maybe all jobs are? I have also been fortunate enough to be yoga instructor and now mindfulness meditation awareness training has been proven to help me go deeper. Currently, I’m volunteering at a “meeting place” for people who are drug and or alcohol users. I have been doing meditation with those who are interested and it’s very nice to see that some people are feeling good because of the practice. I really enjoy serving people and if I can share my meditation practice with others I’m happy to do it! My goal is to be able to open a outreach program to serve people by organizating “meditation groups” for various types of groups. I have started the groundwork for this, but it’s not up and going yet. The next step is finding funding. Finally, I think that everyone is my teacher and everyone I meet has something different to teach. It’s my job to be open and grateful for what ever opportunities they being.
When I meditate I allow myself to sit with whatever is and I feel a sense of homecoming. No matter what feelings or sensations are there wisdom tells me it’s all ok. I feel that gratitude in my body is when I’m pain free and able to move gracefully in whatever I’m doing. In the space of every present moment gratitude feels like the inhalation and exhalation of being alive. Im alive and I’m grateful.
I am humbled in nature. Out in the wild I feel how small and powerless we, as humans really are.
I cherish the moments of the hete and now when my mind is still in the perfect present. I always find core Peace within the practice of coming back home again and again to the breath. I cherish the practice of stop, look and go which help me anchor grace and gratitude in daily life. I cherish being able to serve in whatever capacity I am able.
I offer myself more fully when I take life and my storyline less seriously. In other words lighten up and look for gratitude.
I am learning to let go and that sometimes letting go of what we cling to most is the only answer.
Right now I’m having a hard time economically due to this challenging divorce and an illness which has made me unable to work full time. Therefore, it seems that money is a huge problem now. Right now I’m having a hard time economically due to this challenging divorce and an illness which has made me unable to work full time. Therefore, it seems that money is a huge problem now. It seems that women and kids suffer economically due to divorce. I try to share as much as I can by volunteering my time each week and helping people whenever I can. I’m a bit overwhelmed with the current situation I’m in which seems to be never ending. Someday, soon, I hope there will be light at the end of the this and only good will happen.
I hope that I can smile today and feel joy for this new day. I will welcome everyone.
The vastness of the universe and all of the magical ways life gives birth to everything. We all “inter-are.”. When we look deeply at something we see our interconnectedness. Everything inter-is. There is no end no beginning. Magic is everywhere!
I wanted to share this with you all.
The reflection closes with a reading of “School Prayer” by Diane Ackerman:
In the name of the daybreak and the eyelids of morning and the wayfaring moon and the night when it departs,
I swear I will not dishonor my soul with hatred, but offer myself humbly as a guardian of nature, as a healer of misery, as a messenger of wonder as an architect of peace.
In the name of th...
In the name of the sun and its mirrors and the day that embraces it and the cloud veils drawn over it and the uttermost night and the male and the female and the plants bursting with seed and the crowning seasons of the firefly and the apple,
I will honor all life —wherever and in whatever form it may dwell—on Earth my home, and in the mansions of the stars.[1]
I agree with Always Learning. We need to have action put into place to make a difference. I would add that we start with Beingness. Being compassionate with ourselves. To contribute to a more just world we must have an open heart and be able to have loving kindness for ourselves. We must be awake to recognize thoughts of anger or hate. We must be awake to question our thoughts of separateness or treating people as the “other”. Our thoughts contribute to our actions or in action and therefore it’s necessary for us to pay attention to where our minds are. Mind training is essential for the contribution of a just world. I can contribute to a more just world when I am awake and present with myself. By radiating love and compassion inside out I am contributing to making peace around me. When our thoughts are constantly on high speed we are caught up in our own storylines. This sort of turbulence creates an unbalanced mind. My contribution then needs to be to focuse on the middle path of balance between love and truth. Always Being open to the universe. Ask myself where is my mind? Acknowledge feelings whatever they are and then ask is this really true or is this a storyline my mind keeps replaying? Be awake, Be present, radiate love and truth.
Great idea! Always look for the good!
Thank you for your kind thoughts and words. I hope I can keep the fire burning in me.
Thank you so much. I pray for the light and the energy to come.
Thank you so much for your kindness Kevin. I appreciate the support.
Thank you so much for saying this. I have been in this situation before and I’m coming out of a dark place. It’s like the rebirth of life. It’s what brother David says that anxiety is from. Anxiety is part of life but fear destroys it . It takes courage to know how to pick ourselves up and keep going. Today my intention is to allow anxiety to be with me and walk with it hand and hand knowing I’m full of courage and love. I trust life. Thanks for listening.
Hummingbirds are truly amazing wonders. They make me stop and smile every time I am so lucky to be in their presence.
Couldn’t agree more Kevin! I often think similarly. I hope we do what we can and serve when we are able. I look up to those who give their whole lives in selfless service. They are our true heroes.
