Gratefulness
I keep it simple: grateful for all sentient beings and for those who show love.
The trees, their roots, the earth and nutrients, the air, the sky, the branches and leaves, all reminders of our interconnection. We are not born onto, but out of this earth.
Reality for sure; happiness most likely.
That calm is a developable reaction.
Be present.
I give away nothing because I have nothing to give. We share life and everything in it. Even when I smile and then you smile, we share not give.
The response that comes to mind: All sentient beings. We are all interconnected in so many ways. We help each other, starting with simple kindness.
By being kind, seeing the good in others.
“Animals are my friends. I don’t eat my friends.”, — George Bernard Shaw. (Sorry, just had say it. I am reading “A Plea for the Animals”by Matthieu Ricard.)
To eliminate the “I” part.
Asking the forgiveness of someone who threatened me, grateful for the opportunity to create peace. What a world it would be. Some might find that outrageous.
Letting go. Acceptance and awareness.
H.H. The Dalai Lama on a global scale. My late father, on a first-person level; rarely did I see him angry. His eyes spoke love.
A good way to practice is on the small things. Say you drop something and catch it before it breaks, or not. Stop and think before you curse or blame yourself for being clumsy. It is all within a few seconds but it is a good start. I am working on it.
Softly with a minimum of words.
Nature is us — you, them, me, and all the rest. We are one, we just seem to resist the fact. Wishing all the visitors to demo.gratefulness.org a peaceful new year, a peaceful now.
When, about five years after my divorce, an acquaintance saw me at a dance hall while he was dancing with a young woman he just met. He came over and said he wanted me to meet a nice Irish girl. That “girl” and I have been married 32 years. Prior to our meeting both of us had given up actively seeking life partners. The meeting was just in time.
The value of nonviolence from inside your door to the ends of the world. Press for peace.
They are the truth and need not seek it. We trick them into thinking they need to do that later.
Going with the flow, and thankful for the opportunity to do so.
A river flows, sometimes splashing, sometimes meandering. It has only that purpose, if we can call it so. Really, it just flows in a constant move toward its whole self in the oceans and in the sky as a cloud, only to return as rain to play some more and in its course it infuses the world with life. Thank you, Brother David, for your insight. I am grateful for that.
