Gratefulness
I keep it simple: grateful for all sentient beings and for those who show love.
That humans are evolving slowly (too slowly?) into beings feeling compassion for all sentient beings.
Enough is based on need. I don’t need anything, but the people of Sudan (etc…..) need more than the world is providing. And there is never enough love. It is much needed.
The mass killings, recently in New York, are so unsettling. People as the Dalai Lama and the late Fred Rogers are standing opportunities to be less fearful, in these cases less a personal fear as a collective one. As Mister Rogers said: Look for the helpers; there are always helpers.
Squirrels. There are lots in our community and I love to watch them move about. Most say they are busy but I think there’s a bit of simple fun there.
Opinions, but easier said than done. You see, that’s one right there. And again and again…. I like the Silent Witness, idea, Sheila. And I say that after 40: years in newspaper editorial work..haha,
Awareness, because it is new every moment.
I have done some hospice volunteering. It is really about sharing presence; his or her presence with me and mine with his or hers. Simplicity realized.
The laughter of children. You say they don’t understand, but maybe they do, maybe they just do. And many are growing older without loosing that understanding, and the haters of the world will be the objects of laughter as humans evolve. Personally, I laughed at some of those haters on the morning news. Absurdity can be funny.
The falling leaves.
We are all one, connected in everything from food to.peace. To name just two ways. My benefactors are incalculable.
Guess you’ll need to ask someone else. But, just to try, I like the heartfelt responses of the others here.
By realizing it’s impermanence and taking it to heart now.
It turns the gaze outward to marvelous things.
Life.
Their presence.
Live the questions and don’t worry about finding answers. Enjoy, love, be and take the pain for what it is. Practice equanimity.
When my wife says “good morning.”
Setting aside self, offering peace in whatever way possible.
It’s all good when it falls under the classification of compassion.
You found your answer, let go. Smile when you don’t feel like it and know as John Lennon sang: “Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans.” Sounds simple but often times the best answers are simple. And sometimes a smile drives the would-be controllers crazy and that’s fun too.
