Gratefulness
the lessons from basketball. basketball saved my life…changed my world view…taught me life lessons…helped me be who I am.
the practice of making my time count even more towards my vision of helping the collective. I’m fairly certain I saw this quote on this site but it pertains to me and this behavior I want to practice. “when we release expectations and experience appreciation, all the moments of our lives become openings and opportunities”
it sends the right chemicals to my brain. it takes me out of my “problems” and re directs my energy towards helping others. our legacy is other people…everyone we come in contact with, therefore, caring for others is my legacy. creating curriculum/content that enhances/cares for others’ lives makes the world better and creates a higher vibration/energy.
I am consistently told that my curriculum for students’ mindset changing is important and needs to reach every elementary, middle, and high school student. I need to both accept that and work harder to make it happen. weareworking2gether.org
my mom playing w my 3 younger children on a Sunday and having a heart attack on Monday that transitioned her from this life. students that show up every day working to figure out how to learn, how to make things better in the face of incredible odds due to family, financial, emotional difficulties.
today I can (like every day) educate my fellow white Americans about white privilege and racism. That it’s not a personal attack on my fellow white Americans. It’s an awareness building regarding the systems that historically and currently work against people of color. It’s not about blame and it’s not about victimhood…it’s about facts and what can we do collectively to make this country work right for everyone. I can do the same each day regarding Male...

I can do the same each day regarding Male privilege and educate my fellow males regarding sexism and what can we do to eradicate it.
the “skill”; of passion…of caring/empathy…of communication…of following through…of love…of creating content that conveys my message
Positive energy! Advice!
start w my personal mindset “I love you. I am sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. it is the Ho’oponopono prayer. from there I can continue to spread kindness to myself and others through the day.
Counseling/working with/getting to know middle school & high school students. I am simultaneously heartened by their beautiful spirits & “pricked in my heart” about their life circumstances as well as what have we set them up for. My perspective on the urgency of collective work towards positive change is heightened.
I have not done a good job today of focusing on the good in others. I focused on the good in my children… but, in terms of other grown human beings I saw negatives. it’s very unusual for me to do that. I will get back on the bicycle of gratitude for the rest of today/tonight.
there is a video on my youtube channel 2gether Tuesday…”your legacy is other people”. it is a mash up of Oprah and a foreign language (with subtitles) video. it illustrates today’s question. our “legacy” is everyone we come in contact with. I also truly believe that the energy I give affects energy around the world. truly so much negative energy moving through our populations. we have to continue to be a force for transformation and powerful good.
“Modeling” is the most powerful teaching tool. Positive interactions (spreading love), helpful mindset(how can I be of service n act on it), accurate thinking (complaining free zones)
listen, be there w them, earn their trust. based on why they are suffering, discuss strategies to move through or past the suffering and be there with them throughout the process. love them
sacred to me…helping others, my family, the collective being better today than yesterday, the ability to learn/gain knowledge, passion. preserving it requires mindfulness, love, optimism regarding my effort, self reflection/receiving critique, love, and thankful heart/mind/soul. + > ÷
Neuroscience wise my hypothalamus is stimulated n helps w my healing. Being thankful opens me to everyone n their needs. We can collectively heal.
that I still need to learn how to manage and be cool with money.
I can commit to not taking for granted the moments that are within each 24 hours.
my family, food/water, shelter for gratitude. wonder = the love I receive. wonder = the higher power/God I receive strength from. wonder = that I got to wake up again and bring light I’ve learned to the world.
That when I share (teach), I actually receive so much knowledge in return. Teaching n learning are reciprocal. The themes are acknowledging oppressive systems but, not using them as excuses. Building strength n strategies in regards to mental, emotional, physical, and knowledge fitness
