How they are compelled to rise up, to shine. Some people are like that. Luminaries who rise to the darkness of their times. Blessed be. 2 Reply Susan7 years agoSusanNot sure what is meant by ‘dark’ so I am going to take this literally. The dark or the night is very calming and peaceful. Sometimes, I wake up in the middle of the night and it is indeed dark. There isn’t much to see and yet, I can see from within. Often I can see God more clearly in the dark. 2 Reply Michael7 years agoMichaelit really forces me to rely upon what I should be relying upon in the light. calm thinking, rational thinking, positive thinking that it is going to work out. there is a real peace in the dark. 1 Reply Hot Sauce7 years agoHot SauceThe dark teaches me to get through the cave, through the crucifixion experience, and come out to the light, to the resurrection experience. It temporarily makes life more difficult so as to bring new life in the long run. 2 Reply Always Learning7 years agoAlways LearningI have a real sense of peace in the dark. It slows me down and gives me the opportunity to think. I do a lot of reflecting in the dark. It always gives me internal light. 1 Reply Palm7 years agoPalmAlso finding the word of the day particularly comforting, no need to know what is coming but, in the darkness, I can find guidance in every bit of light along the way 1 Reply KC7 years agoKCThe dark invites me to see what is important, essential and real. I appreciate the Thomas Merton quote today – you do not need to know precisely what is happening, or exactly where it is going. What you need is to recognize the possibilities and challenges offered by the present moment, and to embrace them with courage, faith and hope. 3 Reply Always Learning7 years agoAlways Learning*Thankyouthankyouthankyou* 2 Reply KC7 years agoKCThank you! ???????????????? … 1 Reply Antoinette7 years agoAntoinetteThe darkness shows me that there’s always light at the end of the tunnel! Just like the thought of the day reminds us, we don’t always know or even need to know where that light leads us. Life always unfolds for us and the beauty is in allowing. Letting go of the resesatance we have or the control we may want to have. Our divine light shows us exactly what the truth is. Love shines the way through the darkest of times. 2 Reply Deb7 years agoDebThe dark, be it physical, emotional or spiritual allows me to practice trust, trust that I continue to be surrounded by light. 3 Reply Michael7 years agoMichaelThe growing light of compassion. 3 Reply Trevor7 years agoTrevorThe dark as in time of day where the sun isn’t visible? Or the dark as in the area of life where the most suffering lurks? Either way, the dark allows me to see my inner light. Well maybe I’m not an entirely luminous and radiant being just yet but one day! “I wish I could show you, when you are lonely or in darkness, the astonishing light of your own being.” ~ Hafiz of Shiraz 4 Reply Patjos7 years agoPatjosDon’t worry – I see you shining brightly! :))) 0 Reply Christine7 years agoChristineSometimes the dark allows my imagination to create. The creations can be things of beauty or things that are concerning 3 Reply Kevin7 years agoKevinI have fond memories from my farming days of walking down into the pasture at 4 AM to bring the cows up to the barn for milking. The waning night sounds slowly giving way to daybreak still on the distant horizon; the rising mist; an owl’s mournful far-off hoot; the smell of hay curing in a nearby field. Every sound and smell fills in what cannot yet be seen, assisting the eyes that wait for daylight. – Kevin 7 Reply Trevor7 years agoTrevorWonderful mental imagery! 0 Reply My Private Gratitude Journal Write an entry in your private gratefulness journal Get Started This site is brought to you by A Network for Grateful Living, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
