ELIZABETH AQUINO I believe that Elizabeth Aquino’s quote is perfect for me, just now. As I wrote in my answer to Jill, I had some problems during my holidays in holding Gratitude and Misery and then let them fly. When I felt prejudices (towards some people in the Italian place where I spent my holidays) I judged myself as a bad woman, not able to be better. When I stayed in the moment, listening to those speaking about their lives, their difficulties, I was moved. So, at the end, maybe I have to accept that there can be two things in my soul. The choice is in part that suggested by Aquino, “let them fly” and in part that suggested by Philippians 4:8 (thanks, Aine!) I must say this quote also helped me letting fly the thoughts and loving people anyway 0 Reply Anna7 years agoAnnaDear Palm, thank you for your support, I can feel you close to me and for this I am grateful. 0 Reply Palm7 years agoPalmMe too dear Anna ???? 1 Reply Aine7 years agoAineI love the fact that so many of us have given basically the same answer. May need more animals and children in my life. More yoga, meditation, music, dance, nature, good food and company … Chickens are a bit complicated! 3 Reply Aine7 years agoAineSmall Public Service Announcement from someone who has lived with rescued animals since I was about two... :D If you are serious about wanting an animal, go with a reputable rescue. Then you can be matched to the animal before you commit and know a bit about what they are like. Rescue foster families also tend to teach them some basic manners and such, which makes transition easier. There are all sorts of ages, too, and often people do not want the older animals who are the easiest to transition... There are all sorts of ages, too, and often people do not want the older animals who are the easiest to transition since they are through the chewing and housetraining, etc. Some animals need homes because their people got too ill to care for them, and you can bless more than the dog’s heart and your own by adopting one of those. I am working on getting out of my head, too, and being in the moment with my animals does help! So helpful to know that a reputable animal rescue operation will take good care of the animals to help them transition well, and that the older ones are often easier to transition. I have not yet won the ‘head’ argument with my husband to have a dog in the house, so perhaps will bring one home on trial and challenge his heart! Really appreciate your note, as it keeps my dream of having a dog in our house alive 🙂 KC 0 Reply Aine7 years agoAineIf you need any help in this process or have questions, feel free to ask me. I would love to help you be matched with a dog that would be perfect for you. I can help point you in the right direction breed wise, too, as there are matches in that realm as well. Good rescues have requirements because they don't want the animal back. They want to match good people with the perfect dog for them and then have a Happy Ending. Good rescues have requirements because they don’t want the animal back. They want to match good people with the perfect dog for them and then have a Happy Ending. And their adoption fees may seem steep sometimes, but believe me, they don’t generally cover all that went into the animal’s rescue. They will come with their shots, spayed or neutered, vetted out, and that alone generally adds up to the amount asked. The whole goal is to match person and dog so that you are a Furever Home. 😀 Hope this was not out of place here. I am rather passionate about finding good homes for my furry friends! 😀 We have four dogs and one cat, all rescues in one way or another, and a flock of chickens. Distractions and busy life. 3 Reply Susan7 years agoSusanWatching the news prevents me from the simplicity and the sacredness of the moment. How the media reports the news is discouraging and disheartening because ‘bad news sells’ so the media is going to report the worse. I am going to focus on ‘Good News Saves’ and appreciate those people who help and serve others such as the volunteers at my church’s food bank. Keeping my mind and attention on those who do something positive, will help me appreciate the simplicity and the sacredness. 6 Reply Anna7 years agoAnnaI agree. I have to meditate a long on this insight, Jill. During my holidays I realized that my mind holds some prejudices but when I turned my attention on people doing something good i could let these prejudices go. 0 Reply Aine7 years agoAinePhilippians 4:8 has a point. 🙂 0 Reply Anna7 years agoAnnaThank you Aine. Referring to my answer to Jill, Philippians 4:8 is actually precious for me, just now. 0 Reply Gina7 years agoGinaScary to me how easily distracted l can be when taking in media……truthfully the distraction is greatest when there is an element of fear… So nice to see total eclipse make headlines……. 3 Reply 1 2 Next » My Private Gratitude Journal Write an entry in your private gratefulness journal Get Started This site is brought to you by A Network for Grateful Living, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
