KC7 years agoKCI keep practicing to show up in the world as calm, patient, kind, open, generous, accepting, understanding, forgiving… As I learn greater compassion and acceptance of self, I have more to give to others. I hope that my quiet, peaceful and authentic presence is a positive one for others. I am grateful to Susan Cain, David Whyte and many others who teach and model that couerage does not always roar… 3 Reply Palm7 years agoPalmYou never know… I am grateful I went to the doctor and found knitting sets at the waiting rooms. This is part of a project, the patients use their time to make knitting patches grow. Somebody we don’t know will patch a blanket together and the blanket will warm up somebody, we don’t know who… All I know is that I have taken up knitting again just when I needed it, it is so relaxing and beneficial to me… it is nice to think it could also benefit somebody else 1 Reply Always Learning7 years agoAlways LearningBy being authentic, honest, and acting with integrity. 1 Reply Hot Sauce7 years agoHot SauceLol. Honestly, this is probably one of the funniest questions I have ever been asked! Well, to be straight up, if I don’t know I am making the contribution, then I can’t really say now, can I? Maybe by using the toilet, I am somehow starting a butterfly effect that is preventing nuclear war in some mysterious way? What kind of question is that?! 0 Reply Deb7 years agoDebI don’t know. I only have hope that my contribution is for the good and faith that my efforts will bear good fruit. To attempt to know or do more seems to be to be shining my light instead of letting my light shine. 1 Reply Michael7 years agoMichaelGuess you’ll need to ask someone else. But, just to try, I like the heartfelt responses of the others here. 1 Reply Michael7 years agoMichaelthere is a video on my youtube channel 2gether Tuesday…”your legacy is other people”. it is a mash up of Oprah and a foreign language (with subtitles) video. it illustrates today’s question. our “legacy” is everyone we come in contact with. I also truly believe that the energy I give affects energy around the world. truly so much negative energy moving through our populations. we have to continue to be a force for transformation and powerful good. 2 Reply Aine7 years agoAineWell, by Being, first of all, just be being. The amazing thing is that our presence here is necessary in some way we may never understand. Why us? Why now? But there is a reason, and our contribution likely will reach far beyond us. We are specific, unique, essential strands in the web helping support the whole, even when we cannot see any other strands but those close to us. 5 Reply Anita7 years agoAnitaThis question stopped me and really made me think. My intention every day is to be honest, loving, kind and generous to those around me and to those I encounter along my journey. 3 Reply Jeff7 years agoJeffCarbon dioxide for the trees? 🙂 Bit of a tough question.. if you don’t know it, you don’t know it. But I guess sometimes it’s good to stop and think about what you don’t stop and think about. But while my first statement is somewhat in jest, it’s true. Our presence affects everything else, so there are many ways we contribute to the well-being of everything – in ways big or small. 4 Reply Kevin7 years agoKevinWell, if I’m writing about it I guess that means I know about it! The most obvious “contribution” I am making to the world at the moment is that I am a consumer of goods, which are made by others and helps, as a part of the whole, to provide jobs, etc. Of course, the flip side of this is that I am also contributing to the problems of the world too as a consumer in terms of pollution, my carbon footprint and so forth. Spiritually, I would like to think that I am contributing to the world in prayerful ways and in peace-affirming ways and adding my voice to non-violent and peaceful coexistence. As a person, I prefer to live hopefully, and be a person that holds up the wonder and value of people everywhere. I may only be one person, a speck among the many, but whenever I can join arm in arm among like-minded people elsewhere, my contribution to the greater good of human kind becomes more significant. – Kevin Read More4 Reply Aine7 years agoAineLove the last paragraph, Kevin. I think that accomplishes far more than we could ever imagine, as if we ourselves were the loaves and the fishes being multiplied to feed the world in myriad ways. 3 Reply Antoinette7 years agoAntoinetteI’m contributing to awakening by practicing presence. 4 Reply Malag7 years agoMalagA bigger question than I at first thought. People I meet who may somehow be impacted by me and I will never know. Random interactions in the web of the world have consequences we do not see. If I ever have lineal descendants beyond my kids I won’t even be alive to see what my contribution may bring. A sobering moment. 5 Reply My Private Gratitude Journal Write an entry in your private gratefulness journal Get Started This site is brought to you by A Network for Grateful Living, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
