…the heat in our home, the house that was built over 80 years ago, those who designed, built, transported, delivered, sold the comfy sofa I sit on, those who grew the coffee and all who brought it to the shelf at the store, the makers of my favourite mug, those who pruned the trees out the front window. Mother Nature for the bright pink cherry blossoms in full splendour! The gratefulness team, and all who share their precious time, energy and thoughtful words here daily! ????????????…
I read this yesterday after I woke up in the morning and could not think straight. I went to Mass and thought about this question. As I slept there was a great number of people that I don't know who were providing me comfort and peace. I slept in a warm house with gas provided by the workers at the gas company, to make sure that I was safe the fire department was on duty as was the police department. I know if I or members of my family were sick during the night there were doctors and nurses...
I read this yesterday after I woke up in the morning and could not think straight. I went to Mass and thought about this question. As I slept there was a great number of people that I don’t know who were providing me comfort and peace. I slept in a warm house with gas provided by the workers at the gas company, to make sure that I was safe the fire department was on duty as was the police department. I know if I or members of my family were sick during the night there were doctors and nurses on duty to assist us. And if needed a cab or uber driver to get us to the hospital. And half way around the world in places I have never been there were people saying prayers in their places of worship or their private homes, praying for peace, praying that we all be united in love. There were merchant marine personnel transporting the goods that we all use, There are at every moment of our existence people all over the world who are contributing to our lives in ways that we don’t know about. We can’t live without each other. Thank you for this question, it made me just start to think about something that we take for granted.
I think mostly of the food I’m eating for breakfast – who farmed it, who drove it to the coop where I bought it, who works at the coop. I also think of this house I’m in, the people who built it who are no longer alive, the electricity that made it possible to cook my food and the people who maintain that electrical grid. I also think of the earth and what anonymous soil grew this food, and what anonymous plants the seeds came from, and the anonymous sunlight and rain that nourished them...

I am especially thankful for the person who made my fleece sweater. The weather is capricious right now, and this morning is just cool enough to need it. Aaahhhhh!
I think about these folks, sometimes, all the way on the other side of the world, often working under appalling conditions for low wages so that the people above them can prosper...and I can have my sweater. When this comes to mind, I say a little prayer for the people who made my bit of clothing and ask for their burden to be eased ...

Someone grew and harvested my breakfast. Then it was shipped and sold to me. Someone a long time ago built my house. I benefit from people all over the globe really as I spend my day today. Right now the computer I use was invented and manufactured where? This web site also created and maintained by people that I have never met. I am so thankful.
The day has just begun, however, those who create this site, pose the questions, provide the word(s) for the day are anonymous to means I thank each of you. May you know today and all days that your gifts of time and heart are spreading seeds of Gratitude and Kindness. Thank you. ????
I agree!
different “strangers” yesterday. be polite and helpful in the grocery store. exchange good mornings and smiles. ask about the meaning of + > ÷ on my t shirt n engage in a brief discussion.
Our interconnectivity is endless, anonymous or otherwise. Smiles all around as we service one another!
A smile as we pass by.
On holiday today and at home, I called the vaccinations rooms today as my daughter is due again, the lady patiently took the time to spell and repeat the complicated names of the vaccines for me
It was only 4:20 AM when I first read this question. I hope not to receive any services from any stranger at this hour of the day! But I get the question.
I find it exhilarating to meet a new person for the first time whether or not they do something for me. That person becomes an acquaintance and perhaps eventually a friend. If we think about it, that simple human transaction alone becomes a blessing and gift shared between one and the other.

Today was my last time to swim in the ocean in Hawaii before we go back to Duluth, MN (where snow still hangs around). As I was bobbing in the water, a fellow swimmer was bobbing about, too, and we visited awhile. I do not know her name or much, but the encounter was a reminder we are all living and carrying various burdens and yet appreciate the tender mercies of a pleasant few moments before we move on.
