I am also so thankful for my mind’s ability to find joy and curiosity, love and meaning. 3 Reply Christina7 years agoChristinaMy mind – because it opens me up to the precious gifts of the spirit, which I receive – like just this morning – by reading my beloved daily meditation books! 6 Reply Kevin7 years agoKevinWhat parts of my body do I treasure? All the parts that work! 7 Reply Antoinette7 years agoAntoinetteAmen Kevin! 0 Reply Mary7 years agoMaryKevin I find it interesting that the three responses below (spoiler alert) that you have gotten so far are so different. I would agree with all three, but my response was the first thing that came to me. I laughed, Aine good naturedly agreed, and Ose responded with caring and good wishes (even though I was at first shocked as I misread her response as "wishing you the best for complete refrigeration". I'm so sorry Kevin and Ose . I sometimes can't help myself). Anyway, the range of response... We are all here in the spirit of love and gratitude and yet we all have our own individual take on each question. And in this way we learn and expand and bond with one another. I hope you (and sweet Gracie) are doing well. Though so far, no “refrigeration” for me! And oh yes, Gracie says hello! 0 Reply Mary7 years agoMaryYou are too funny Kevin! And so matter of fact about it. Thanks for giving me a big chuckle. Mary 0 Reply Kevin7 years agoKevinWell, I try to remember some lines from those who have lived a good and long life who have come before me and have since passed on, like, “Stay on the right side of grass.” “Gravity wins in the end, so keep moving now!” “You get to a certain age and it’s snip, stitch, patch and go!” But my favorite, my none other than the late Mae West, who said, “I used to be Snow White, but then I drifted.” 0 Reply Aine7 years agoAineYup, that’s about it! 😀 0 Reply Ose7 years agoOseWishing you all the best for complete regeneration of the functions of your back so that all needed and desired movements are possible, especially that you may keep your beloved rowing together with your friends. Have a good day, Kevin. 1 Reply Kevin7 years agoKevinThank you, Ose. If you jump over to the Lounge, I uploaded a photo of me at the boats a few weeks back! Good to have a dream…and a plan! 0 Reply Ose7 years agoOseDear Kevin, good to see you three weeks post op. next to your friends helping you holding the oar. Thanks for the photo and for your being here on this site and sharing. With gods grace you hopefully will be able to row again with your friends. It seems your plan works. Thanks dear Kevin. I am deeply touched and learn from your courage and kind support every day, especially these days. Wish you all the best for your healing, from my heart. 0 Reply Ose7 years agoOseIt is amazing and mysterious how the thread of life connects all parts and makes them work together in harmony, in many organs even without any awareness. But without the heart, nothing would be alive, the heart with its two sides and four chambers which moves and is moved by love. For this being alive, for being able to learn to open up where my heart is still closed, I am deeply grateful. May we all open up to the possible kind and harmonious interconnection, which our body reflects, includin... Mary 0 Reply kathleen7 years agokathleenI must say I don’t normally treasure any part but now that I think about it we have been given a body and it works so hard for us. It would be helpful to treasure it especially when it is having a hard time. Words of encouragement to body parts is a way to encourage the body instead of complaining. I must remember this. 6 Reply Aine7 years agoAineI’ve been challenged from a number of quarters to make peace with my body, even with its pain, to befriend it and love it. I find this so hard sometimes! We are taught to have such an adversarial relationship with pain and this extends to our bodies. The idea of friendship and love given to one’s pain is a hard concept to wrap my brain around, but I am finding that it works better than the years of fighting and strain that only added to the pain. 2 Reply Kevin7 years agoKevinOh, I hear you loud and clear, Aine, in this department. And I admit I’m a novice when it comes to making peace and befriending my own pain. I admire greatly those who can. 0 Reply « Previous 1 2 My Private Gratitude Journal Write an entry in your private gratefulness journal Get Started This site is brought to you by A Network for Grateful Living, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
