Some add more than others and some people just take instead of giving, but I can pass those gifts onto others by being a part of the world and contributing. Sometimes your comments here inspire even my writing on how we can overcome suffering and may find peace and freedom. Since young age I was led by this ideal, and as we share these universal and fundamental human themes here, it is kind of unavoidable for a part to let the writing be influenced as well by this sharing in a way. Your comments help to clear my mind and are of much support to include a wider perspective. For both I am deeply grateful. I hope one day the writing will be published in German language so that through publishing it, it could be of help and support for others. Serving and may be inspiring others in this way would be great joy. Any time someone else has done something unselfish or thought about the welfare of others I have benefitted. Any time someone uses their talent or gifts so others can succeed at something I have benefitted too. I could pass it on by being open to seeing what I can do for my fellow man. What contribution can I make? How can I honor their contributions? 3 Reply KC7 years agoKCLike Kevin, I am deeply grateful to the demo.gratefulness.org team and contributors for this website, the daily question and all who share your reflections. This community offers connection and courage that help me to keep showing up, doing my best and making the best of each day. 4 Reply Aine7 years agoAineThere's a great group of volunteers who worked together in their organization to save our newest dog from a shelter and another rescue who could not handle him. I only met the woman who fostered him, not all the others whose efforts and energy went into saving him. I can pass this blessing along by being an advocate for adopting via a rescue (there are many benefits), as well as letting my pup be an “ambassador” for his breed, so to speak. (We already were quite well received at the Home Depot!) Read More3 Reply Kevin7 years agoKevinThe daily gifts for me are the people right here at Gratefulness.org! Truly. The outpouring of support and concern for me leading up to, during and following my back surgery on May 30 was especially touching, tender and humbling. Continuing to be a part of this community keeps those gifts moving. Thank you all! -Kevin 6 Reply Francine Marie Tolf7 years agoFrancine Marie TolfKevin, I don’t visit this site every day, but it’s evident to me how valued your input is; your comments are always thoughtful and helpful. I hope you are healing a little more each day. 1 Reply Kevin7 years agoKevinThank you, my friend! 0 Reply grateful sea7 years agograteful seaPeople who set aside green space, who protect mature forests. People who plant trees. People (like Louie Schwartzberg — see today’s blog post “Fantastic Fungi”) who use their gifts of speaking, writing, photographing, etc. to show us the interconnectedness of all life here on earth and how we as humans must live in a way so that mother nature can regenerate. I pass on the gift by trying to live more and more in that way. 4 Reply Ben7 years agoBenThis food I’m eating now was farmed by someone I’m unlikely to know personally. It is a gift to be able to eat fresh, healthy produce. I hope to pass it on today through kindness, song, and doing the healing practices that help keep my heart open to deeply receiving and being present with others. 4 Reply Aine7 years agoAineIf you want to be even more a part of that, shop at a local farmers market that is Producers Only. Then you will know who grew your food and be passing on a gift right then and there! (We used to sell at market, so I can say from experience, your presence and patronage there is very encouraging.) 3 Reply Lynn Murphy7 years agoLynn MurphyAll the keepers and producers of my food chain so that I am able to eat on a daily basis! I share these food gifts to family and friends by my gift of cooking so that they are able to enjoy delicious food! 5 Reply Ed Schulte7 years agoEd SchulteWhat are the daily gifts in my life from people I do not know (personally)? How can I pass those gifts on to others? It is a “gift” to join in conscious intention …with All those who are participating in the Global Peace Prayer around the world. This is established as 9:00 pm each day in each time zone with a 10 minute prayer conveying the intentions as described below. There is a call to all our brothers and sisters around the world to rise above the lure of conflict and create powerful prayers of peace. True peace is not the opposite of war. True peace has no polarized counterpoint. It is a peace that the world itself cannot give. But this peace can be invoked in God and in our own true nature. By visualizing while praying for peace we are consciously creating angelic thought-forms full of love and understanding for all humanity. These prayers empower the vibrations of harmony and infuse reason into insane situations. Transcending the “Them verses Us” mentality also will also restore our personal peace and lead us into the greater realization that in truth, there is no “Them” everyone is “Us.” Read More2 Reply Palm7 years agoPalmBeautiful Ed, I didn’t know, thanks I will join 1 Reply Ed Schulte7 years agoEd SchulteYou are welcome. It is a an important initiative but one that has bee around in the heart of human beings for a long long time . Rumi expresses it this way. Out beyond ideas of ‘right doing’ and ‘wrong doing’ there is a field. I will meet you there. When the Soul lies down in that grass the world is too FULL to talk about. Words, ideas, even the phrase “Each other” Doesn’t make any sense. 1 Reply Antoinette7 years agoAntoinetteThe daily gifts I receive from others are tolerance and patience ; to name just a few. Patience and tolerance are the antidote to anger and hatred. The more we try to open up with people and offer our patience and tolerance the more we can be the chage in the world that we want to see. ( Gandhi said it best!) Jesus also taught tolerance and to turn the other cheek. Deny they self and to treat others the way we would have them treat us. Wouldn’t we all like to be treated with patience and tolerance? We don’t always have to be in perfect agreement in order to cultivate tolerance and patience. We ARE interdependent. 3 Reply Michael7 years agoMichaelI do believe we are connected. when others are putting forth positive efforts I feel it benefits me. I strive to do the same each day. I am thankful for the people that do this. if we can connect more and sync it up, we will definitely make a difference. 3 Reply Christina7 years agoChristinaA simple smile. I am often amazed and pleased with how many just smile at me when I pass them. It’s a blessing.I wish I could pass the blessing on, but I don’t. I’m a reserved person and smiling doesn’t come easy to me…some day!! 7 Reply Francine Marie Tolf7 years agoFrancine Marie TolfChristina, smiling was really hard for me, too, esp when I was younger and men on the street demanded that I smile. Yuck. Thank God that doesn’t happen anymore! But now that I am older, I find that it is much easier to smile at a passing stranger or a person on the bus. This may be a small accomplishment, but the rewards are big. I urge you to take baby steps and try maybe one smile a day. It does get easier! 1 Reply Palm7 years agoPalmYou made me smile Francine ???? 0 Reply Christina7 years agoChristinaOne smile a day…okay. 1 Reply Aine7 years agoAineI understand. I am a bit of an introvert myself. 1 Reply Aine7 years agoAineWatch out…You may find it is addictive. Plus, remember that you don’t have to give them a grin that shows your socks. 😉 A simple kind smile is sufficient. It’s just a way of saying, “You exist…and you matter.” 1 Reply Christina7 years agoChristinaIt’ll be hard, but I’ll try. Thanks. 0 Reply Palm7 years agoPalmYesterday, I was thinking about the gifts from people on online communities, including this one and other support groups who promptly give information and offer help. I was also thinking of how can I give back. This question just reminded there was some information I had that could help and that I wanted to send back. 5 Reply Sieger des Friedens7 years agoSieger des FriedensI am particular grateful for the people, who are organzing the entire infrastructure within my hometown: every day, every hour every minute. Thanks a lot. All the inspirations I got from people in spaces like this, …. just to pass on while sending a card, a posting, a note, a Quote to recite …. and sending love while I am praying and connecting with the universe. 4 Reply My Private Gratitude Journal Write an entry in your private gratefulness journal Get Started This site is brought to you by A Network for Grateful Living, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
