I find joy in silence. It is peaceful and allows my mind to rest… sing… pray… and say, “Thank you, God. I am here, in this minute, with You.”
Observing, listening, and supporting my quickly growing teenagers is my greatest joy.
Usually I find it when I’m not hungrily scavenging for it like a miserly spirit in anguish. Looking for joy often creates chains that prevent me from finding it. So I’d say true joy finds me when I manage to let go of clinging to the idea of securing some pleasurable state.
DAMMIT ALL I MISINTERPETED THE QUESTION I’M SO SORRY LOL!
Upon reading it a second time I view it differently, I missed the simple things.
I find joy in the simple things by being present. Being of one mind in the moment. Allowing it to unfold without trying to take control, no the Grand Architect administers joy that’s not up to me.
I always enjoy nature. Not only is it a great stress reliever; it reminds me of what a blessing it is to be alive and to be a part of the evolution of life. Running can also be tons of fun. Sometimes, on an easy or medium run, I like to think about size relativity and imagine that anthills on the ground are mountains and that I am an airplane going very far. Sometimes, just driving and appreciating that we are able to travel so fast today can be pleasurable. Sometimes, eating food and thinking about the history behind how it got started in the United States can be a fun way to celebrate popular culture. In general, anything simple can be pleasurable if you have the playful child’s mindset.
I have a dog who thinks,he’s a burro. He joins in whenever the valleys burros communicate.
The inside or fruit always brings awe and gratitude. Such gifts!
The simple things are everyday things. When I was on vacation visiting my mom with my husband and son one of our most joyful evenings was spent doing a jigsaw puzzle.
Sitting quietly with a loved one. Such peace in presence.
In being able to breathe freely! Do you know how many people with allergies or asthma who cannot breathe through their nose?!
ice cream. oxygen. gratefulness/anticipation of a new day. did I say ice cream? morning 30 to be sturdy routine. children’s laughter/my children’s laughter. “light bulb” moments for others and for myself. spreading the message of gratefulness
Putting on my shoes, hat and sunglasses, and getting out for a morning walk. Deciding to walk out the door changes the whole day. And a million other ways …
Love it pilgrim ! So true !!
Sweeping the kitchen floor is surprisingly joyful & peaceful to me. There is joy in the play of sunlight and wind (such a wonderful combination!) in my windows and through the sheers hung there.
I find joy in the simplicity of:
my morning cup of tea;
in the certainty of sunrises;
in my dog’s howling when the phone rings;
in the familiar tone of my wife’s voice;
in oatmeal;
in the ocean’s roar and the seagulls cry;
in a day lived well and the hope of tomorrow.

I chose to find joy everywhere.
By being awake and having awareness I can remember to notice things that I may have otherwise taking for granted.
I’m so amazed that clean fresh water is always available to me!
I am truly grateful for all of nature and the clean fresh air I breathe.
The basic necessities of life are a gift to us which we can be joyful of! They are endless!
