I am delighted if I can make someone feel like they are the only person in the world.
Trust myself. Trust life. Be spontaneous.
By being me. It’s all I’ve got.
I really enjoy sending a ‘snail mail’ greeting cards to people I know and love, in hopes that they will be ‘delighted’ to receive a get well, birthday, or holiday card in the mail. As much as I appreciate the convenience of sending a virtual ecard, there is still something special about giving and receiving a card in the mail.
This is one way I try to be a source of delight to others.
Susan, we are kindred spirits. One of my biggest pleasures is sending cards and notes to people. You are right, there is something special about giving and receiving a card in the mail.
Many blessings.????
I can best be a delight to others by being well-rested, at peace, unhurried, and fully present in my interactions with them.
By offering love to each person I meet and seeing only love.
To be of service to others, to be in the moment with people, to have eye to eye, soul to soul connection.
by practicing joy
Oh, that’s an easy answer: by using my sense of humor. I’ve always loved making people laugh–and as the youngest of three kids, it’s been a lifelong specialty of mine. And to me, there’s nothing more joyful than giving someone a good, deep belly laugh!
By being exuberant about the things in their lives. It’s a lesson I learned from my mother-in-law…She always showed such genuine interest in everyone she spoke with and the things they were doing. It is time I practiced that outward enthusiasm instead of merely looking for opportunities to talk about my own life.
Interesting question! To tell the truth, I don’t know. maybe without making hard efforts to be a source of delight, maybe being mor playful, as Brother David says. For me that means I have to let my gifts flow into my daily life, without fear or shy.
Lately I have tried to be less serious at workpace. It does not mean that I don’t put all my intelligence and creativity in my tasks, only that I am taking things easier….and this can seem paradoxical but this month my boss have recognized that.
To keep the list short; selflessness, understanding, listening, being the peace, smiling as often as I can.
I can be a source of delight for others by always offering a smile to everyone and helping anyone in physical, spiritual, or emotional need. I can be the source of salvation for those in darkness, giving food, shelter, and clothing to the needy; consoling the disheartened; befriending the outcast; sharing joy with the happy; praying with the faithful; taking care of the sick; helping the elderly; and advocating for justice for those not treated fairly by systems of privilege and prejudice.
My husband’s creative outlet is cooking (I have not cooked in years!). That is his delight. I thoroughly enjoy and appreciate each and every mouthful, which brings him even MORE delight!
I like that! Deep enjoyment of the gifts others share with us makes them feel wonderful…brilliant!
Looking in their eyes and notice them.
The eyes are the mirror of soul, when we look at each other we can see our own love and peace. And then, the heart smiles and we enjoy the delight of to be alive.
Smile! Be present.
Like Ed, I was going to refer to Br David’s letter but kept on thinking why sometimes it’s challenging to be playful, for example with my daughter playful often equals messy. Then I though that perhaps if I incorporate in my daily life what gives me delight, I can reflect and more readily be a source of delight for others, because it will come from a state within. Meanwhile, I can practice humour and kindness, laughing especially at myself ????
Love them as they are. Make it about them.
How can I be a source of delight for others?
Be referring them to to-day’s, Feature Article by Br David – “Let Us Play” and living the Truth within it.
Me, too Kev! We’re wonderful, ain’t we?! Happy Christmas to all!
