Trouble was, I forgot to love me. And I lost me in everyone else. It took a lot of doing and a lot of help to find me again and begin to treat myself as my own best friend. Then, instead of trying to love out of an emptied-out heart, I found I was loving out of a full heart. That’s how I best love my little corner of the world. 5 Reply Elizabeth M Jones6 years agoElizabeth M JonesI can best love the world today by being open and free of judgement. 1 Reply Hugh Searle6 years agoHugh SearleAs the world begins on the spot of ground on which I stand love begins here with gratitude for simply being here – being aware I am alive, I breathe and can give and knowing what my first thought is. Today, for me, that thought was bitter. A heart cry began to turn it into grief and taking my wife a cup of tea. Love held the handle. It does that all the time. 2 Reply Pilgrim6 years agoPilgrimBegin with compassion and kindness toward all persons/creation. 1 Reply KC6 years agoKC…by practicing being kind to self and others … 2 Reply Hot Sauce6 years agoHot SauceGo vegan; drive as little as possible (walk instead); reduce consumption; reuse items as much as possible; recycle when possible; purchase LED lights when replacing bulbs; Leave the lights off when possible; some think it's gross, but if it's yellow, keep it mellow; learn how to communicate with nature so as to live in harmony with it; study world religions so as to understand other cultures and belief systems; learn to be a better leader; study UFOs and aliens (as I suspect this is part of my d... Why would an interest such as this illuminate how we might better love the world? Excellent response, Hot Sauce! Read More4 Reply Hot Sauce6 years agoHot SauceHi, Javier. Hi, Javier. Well, interestingly, I was fascinated with UFOs and aliens as a young child and loved our road trips to Roswell, NM. I even had an imaginary alien friend from Saturn named Jimmy. Eventually, however, I grew out of this phase and just saw aliens and UFOs as a bunch of weird BS some quacks came up with. That was, until I started studying mystical experiences and psychic phenomena. As I studied more on this, UFOs came up over and over again, and I wrestled with whether these were literally real or a collective psychological phenomena (in my opinion now, it is both-collective psychological mythologies breaking through to physical reality; this is why some UFOs are photographed or tracked on pilot radars). Linking my childhood obsession to my adult study of spiritual experiences (a rather unintended happening) was something I took as a nod from the Universe to study extraterrestrial encounters as part of my God-given mission in the Universe. Whether I am interpreting my dharma right or not, I don’t know, but, for now, I will at least say it’s a good guess. Read More2 Reply Hot Sauce6 years agoHot SauceOh yes! Also, many encounters with extraterrestrials teach people the importance of unconditional love. For more on this, look up the encounters of Michael J.S. Carter, a Unitarian Universalist minister. Some of his ideas are a little out there, but I appreciate his recountings of his encounters with benevolent extraterrestrials. 1 Reply Javier Visionquest6 years agoJavier VisionquestThanks again, Hot Sauce. Your's is a fascinating perspective. I've seen strange things in the sky that I've yet to get a satisfactory explanation for. Although the "dancing star" could very well be terrestrial technology, I asked my father (retired DoD) about it. Imagine my surprise when, after listening to my account, instead of telling me to "quit taking the pot and get a haircut!" he admitted that he'd seen the same dancing stars in his childhood from the vantage of a cornfield in N. Thank you, folks at demo.gratefulness.org, for reminding us that for most of us who have food and shelter and friends, the world is indeed not to be endured but loved. I will try to look with tenderness at all I see today. 4 Reply Amor fati6 years agoAmor fatiThank you, Francine for “the world is indeed not to be endured but loved.” 3 Reply Deb6 years agoDebAs I read everyone’s reflection to this question, I find myself in agreement.
