It is funny that today’s gratitude would be about what I joked about earlier with a worker at the YMCA which is improvisation or the word I used today – “speechcraft” Which speech is only part of the improv but the crafting is total part improvisation. I love that in improvisation, there is only one golden rule,”YES, AND” and then there is the silver rule of acting, “React and Respond” These two rules are a deadly combination in any form of live entertainment. What I enjoy most about improvisation is that one constantly learns to grow, problem solve, adapt, communicate without knowing. One becomes open to receive, courageous to give, brave to take risks …. Life…improvisation is a skill most used to learn in life – to win at life. Sometimes, it’s not all fun and laughs, sure you make mistakes but the person one is with, the partner in the situation is there to help figure things out, even when one’s partner is not seen at all. What made me fall in love with improv and acting is the mystery of … DISCOVERY … and to bring others along the journey to discover adventures with you. I enjoy sharing my passion with others because it allows them a chance to a break for a couple of hours and recharge the soul and fill it with emotions, laughter, creativity, wonder, etc… I have the chance to help heal the soul to embrace another day to survive. I am grateful to have learned the craft and have practiced this craft for 20 years. I appreciate all my teachers before me and those still yet to come. I guess I am not a passionate person. I am quiet in energy, action. There are things of life I value deeply but nothing I can say I am passionate about. 5 Reply Joanne6 years agoJoanneDeb, I felt alone in thinking this way also. Reading your honest response certainly helped me feel less alone. Thank you. Just this weekend we had a conversation about preferring a book vs kindle. I myself like curling up with a good old fashioned book. 5 Reply Eva Liu6 years agoEva Liuoh same!! there’s just something so visceral about turning a page on a good book! and then sometimes you have to turn back a page or two just to catch up on where you are. it’s not quite the same with a kindle. when I was little, I used to earmark pages between fingers until I sometimes had my whole hand in the book. 😀 1 Reply Kevin6 years agoKevinOh, I love this, Eva Liu! Makes me think of the old Neil Diamond song with a line that goes, “like a page that aches for a word.” Though I didn’t include it in my little list of things I’m passionate about, I too enjoy writing, in my blog and elsewhere, even though I’ve been more focused on my photography these last several months than I have been to writing. >> Have a splendid day! 2 Reply Eva Liu6 years agoEva Liuahh, that’s a beautiful line. Thank you for sharing. it’s so true, I don’t have as much a penchant for writing as I like but sometimes you do see certain images or people, and you just know their stories are just waiting to be put into words. It’s snowing and sunny here in Amsterdam today. have a wonderful day where you are too! 0 Reply My Private Gratitude Journal Write an entry in your private gratefulness journal Get Started This site is brought to you by A Network for Grateful Living, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
