I try to promote peace and kindness. I see each class once a week. This upcoming school year I will try to emphasize this even more. I would like to work on a project that the whole school could work on. But not so much a fundraiser, since funds are very limited for many children. So I am still thinking. 1 Reply Palm7 years agoPalmI am priviledged to be a daughter of inmigrants, and have received the education they didn’t have and the wisdom the had galore. To have grown up getting enriched from two different cultures. I can share my gifts with others 0 Reply Anna7 years agoAnnaMay the world that doesn’t love migrants listen to your words and treasure them; may all migrants take these words to empower their strength and to use this strength with wisdom and courage. 1 Reply Palm7 years agoPalmThank you for your beautiful words dear Anna, love Palm 1 Reply Gargi7 years agoGargiI am privileged to have free time on hand more than other people……I can spend time with people who need patient hearing. I am physically doing well so can help people older in my family with their house work or errands if any. I am privileged to have extra money which I can share with those in need. In what ever form I can contribute in someone’s wellness. 4 Reply Rachel7 years agoRachelI am privileged to be free from deep suffering experienced in the world. I do not live in a war ravaged place and mass destruction of the land, home. Privilege for me is that which i do not have to feel real pain. 5 Reply Antoinette7 years agoAntoinetteI am very grateful for the many privileges I have received. I try to use them to the best of my abilities by giving back in as many ways as I can. Being aware and practicing compassion with loving kindness is giving back. When we awakento our inner light and love we align ourselves with the true Source. Right seeing and trusting our inner guidance is doing a service to our world. Once we spread out light throughout our world it will create higher consciousness which is heaven on earth. To know... I am very grateful for the many privileges I have received. My immediate first response to this question is… The privilege of experiencing ‘BE-ing a Human Being’ as identified in Genesis 1:26, “let us make man in our own likeness”. BE-ing Human! I choose to do so, because it is an experiential privilege ( and not a “punishment for sinning” as some interpreters of the Holy Bible would like to have it) one even the Holy Archangels do not have! And also, as is implied in Michael Mahoney’s “Daily world” today, it is a “sacred mystery”, ( words hinting that there must be much, much, more to come). I do not wish to criticize the moderator’s question but, along with their, “how might I use them” there must to be the additional clarification…….And WHERE FROM does that ‘how” emanate? The list of “hows” will be very, very long, but the WHERE FROM must be one place and ONE place only….that, “IN-here place” (and not the “OUT-there place”) otherwise all “hows” are …as the English like to call them …”Good Intentions”. And the best news there ever will be is….that “ IN-here-place” is easy to find. I will re-use Br David’s words to point to it. Quote from Br David’s “Deeper then Words”“Your body, as Saint Paul tells us, is a temple of the Holy Spirit, but where does your body end? Is it interwoven with the whole universe? And if so, is not the whole universe your body- Christ’s body, temple of the [Holy Spirit,] body of God? I would like to work for a healthy, sustainable world, so maybe a green business could use my skills. 3 Reply Elizabeth Jenkins7 years agoElizabeth JenkinsAmong other things, we have a lovely big corner lot around our home. I am gradually trying to plant it more and more to have Florida Natives and pollinator friendly plants. It is a wonderful thing to have the space, time, awareness, physical and financial capability to do this and to have the encouragement of family and Friends, too. 4 Reply Mary7 years agoMaryI see you are new to this site. Welcome Elizabeth! I also live in Florida, and I have a fairly big corner lot with lots of dried up grass. I have also thought of planting Natives, but haven’t done anything with the yard for quite a while. I do have some time for this as well, and yes all of this is a privilege. Thanks for the reminder! Mary 0 Reply Gina7 years agoGinaI have so many privileges and so many ways to use them to be of service to others. A challenge for sure in this world and I take up the challenge by attempting to live this one life fully …being present, kind and aware… I just donated money to a music scholarship fund for youth in my community. 2 Reply Anna7 years agoAnnaGood Gina, music is a joy! 0 Reply Gina7 years agoGinaAnna, A young boy from my community school was given assistance to take advanced piano lessons and he is now planning to pursue music at the university level!- amazing talent and dedication. So glad to be just a small part of this… 1 Reply Michael7 years agoMichaelthe word privilege as a white male in America has nothing but (in my opinion) anunearned ed ness meaning attached to it. only when I am actively working to erase (best word I could think) those privileges…or better yet…actively working to make those privileges available to everyone in this country and around the world, do I feel any sense of thankfulness. I feel gratitude towards anyone that puts into action this mission of creating “privileges”/human rights for everyone. 3 Reply Anonymous7 years agoAnonymousMy understanding of Buddhism. All other ‘privileges’ pale in comparison to where I now am in my view of life and the universe. If I can face my demons perhaps one day I can embody what I understand and help others find liberation through the Buddha’s teachings. 4 Reply Kevin7 years agoKevinSome? I have many privileges, so many in fact that it’s unsettling. I am a white, middle class, well-educated American and I have all that I need to live comfortably as I enter retirement. As a practicing Quaker, I am committed to fostering peace and advancing human rights and supporting social justice initiatives wherever possible. (Gosh, that sentence felt too easy to write.) As a practicing Quaker, I am committed to fostering peace and advancing human rights and supporting social justice initiatives wherever possible. (Gosh, that sentence felt too easy to write.) That’s relatively easy given my location on the planet, so my wife and I support selective organizations that work to protect and educate children globally, especially girls, in places where it is needed most. I have had a long, fulfilling career of working directly with young people and their parents who were disadvantaged in various ways. Today, I continue some of this in much smaller ways as opportunity arises. I have the privilege of time and the ability to use my photography and writing to comfort, nurture and bring some measure of help or happiness to a circle of people who either read my blog or to whom I correspond with directly. Sometimes it doesn’t feel like much at all. And yet, when I hear back from someone who writes at 2 AM, who lays bare all that they’re feeling and struggling with, that connection and my response becomes the most important thing in the world. – Kevin Read More5 Reply Gargi7 years agoGargiBeautiful.
