Having awareness that all people are basically the same allows me to offer them the gift of peace in their lives. 0 Reply KC6 years agoKCPractice being more tender with myself, and allowing myself to be touched by tenderness from the people and world around me. You have no idea what has happened in their day. Just being mindful of others and remembering that even though they may be grumpy, slow, sad, or whatever they are there os a reason for it to remembering to be kind to everyone no matter what would allow me to be more tender towards others. 3 Reply elizabeth ward6 years agoelizabeth wardIf I really saw them. Saw them as brothers and sisters instead of people to pass by on the way to somewhere else. If I recalled the word for the day of over a year ago: ‘Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a great battle.’ Philo of A,exandria. 4 Reply Adam Jasper6 years agoAdam JasperI think imagining each person I meet as a young child would allow me to be more tender towards them. I remember being a child wishing that I was an adult so that I would understand the world. I equated adulthood with wisdom. Now, as an adult, I understand that we all have an inner child that never grows up. This child is our innocence, our vulnerability, and our wonder. It’s easier being tender towards a child and we all still have an inner child. 4 Reply Erich6176 years agoErich617I like this sentiment a lot. I told a story last month about a vision I had had of a very naive, guileless version of myself and how it spurred me toward empathy. Similarly, I remember one story that my partner told me about a time in their childhood, a birthday party that they had. I don’t want to share somebody else’s story, but it always brings a little tear to my eye. When I’m frustrated with them for some reason, I remember that story and soften my approach. 0 Reply Jana6 years agoJanaBeing more in the moment with people around me. Deeply. And be willing to be silent until I really feel that I have heard that person. And finally, if I have nothing to say, I should trust the silence. 6 Reply niels6 years agonielsawareness of God-connection mellows my mind instantly. 5 Reply Hot Sauce6 years agoHot SauceRemembering that everyone is divine at their core and, thus, all deserve respect and honor in a spirit of Namaste can help me to be more tender to those I encounter today. Also, if I ever feel angry at someone or feel tempted to think dishonorable thoughts about them, I can correct the thoughts and affirm the words of the Christmas song, “War is over, IF you want it.” 3 Reply Cintia6 years agoCintiaMeditation is a important tool. And the respect and empathy. 4 Reply Sherryl6 years agoSherrylTo remember all the times in my life when someone has been tender and patient with me. It means so much to be safe and accepted. Judging others means judging oneself. Being tender to others helps one to be tender towards oneself. And that leads to happiness. 9 Reply Sue6 years agoSueRemembering that everyone has a story to tell. I try to have these qualities already, but I pray that I can be even better at them. 4 Reply kathleen6 years agokathleenI will be going to a group meditation and listening to a message. Usually that is renewing for me. After I have given to myself in this way it is easier and more natural for me to give back to others. 4 Reply 1 2 Next » My Private Gratitude Journal Write an entry in your private gratefulness journal Get Started This site is brought to you by A Network for Grateful Living, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
