Heard something at the gym today. One of the men in the locker room said that he had just turned 75. The other man commented “that’s 3/4 of a century old”. I told my one friend this tonight and she got a kick out of it.
Sunday when visiting my brother & sister-in-law, who was recovering from surgery. I recounted how I asked a priest to visit my friend’s son who was in a serious car accident. My friend thanked me, but commented,”I’m not sure if my son appreciated the visit or not, but he couldn’t object since his jaw was wired shut.”
I can’t remember exactly, a week ago, maybe more. Talking with a friend and something struck us both at the same time and we threw our heads back and laughed out loud. Delicious.
Last friday, a client of mine rose from the bed with this huge smile on her face, then unable to contain herself-burst out laughing. Total liberation! I am grateful
Today actually while waiting asst the Tampa VA Hospital. Who knew???
The “VA wait” is notorious … And when someone was mumbling about how bad life I laughed and smiled.
I commented: “I may be wrong, I’ve been wrong many times in my life. But from my seat in the cheap seats any day above ground is MUCH better than pushing up daisies!!!”
It changed the whole lot of the over-crowded waiting room!
Yesterday when I told a patient I could only speak a little Spanish and I said, “Feliz Navidad”. He started laughing!
Love it!!, that made ME laugh!
The other day, on the way to the cross country meet in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, I bought an alien mask from the Halloween store at the mall we stopped at and wore it around speaking alien at people.
A smile or laugh seems to be a part of my daily life, but sometimes it seems contrived. Not that contrivance is bad, better to fake it till you make it than not to do it at all. As far as “the last time” was, I think instead I will be on the lookout today for smiles and laughter.
Blessings of hilarity be upon all those who come to this site today!????
Thank you, Deb. I too will focus on “today.”
I believe it was yesterday! I got lost and asked for directions, then asked if they had any postcards I could send to friends….
Wow, I really like your name, starblanket! How whimsical! Delightful!
I do it often for kids in the classroom. It doesn’t come as easily to me otherwise but it is worth thinking about and being mindful of. It is a good exercise for me today.
people say I am funny ….and I do like to laugh.- but not enough, sometimes I am conscious of turning my frown upside down, aware of my facial expression…….changing my thoughts….
recently I had fun with my friends young children and was delighted when heard them say, tickle me some more…..as we were taking pictures
my mother had a great sense of humor and I feel I do as well…..
When I share and listen to silly jokes from children. Seeing their little lightbulbs come on when they understand humor. People need to know it is okay to laugh at life. Humor to me is the bright light of hope in a dark situation. What did the mother buffalo say to her son on the first day of school? Bison.
Laugh? I don’t make people laugh very often or often enough. This is due to the condition of my circumstances. I placed an ad for friends. Is this pathetic? If so … so be it.. I want to bring joy into another persons orbit. I’m always the one laughing it seems like.. anyways good question.
BeccaH7, sending you a smile! or two….

You honesty is so pure to me. You are not pathetic, you are brave. I do not feel brave because I keep my journal private. You allow yourself to be vulnerable in public and for that you have my deep inspiration.
I do this a lot. Almost every time I am around people, I make them smile or laugh. The thing that strikes me here is that people do not do this for me very much. I feel as if I am bringing light and everyone else is sucking it up. I understand that this sounds pessimistic, but as a chronically ill person, it is tough to be in this position. I feel incredibly alone and overwhelmed. This website is a touchstone for my personal well being. I am grateful for what I have, that is certain... but I am...

Always Learning, here are smiles for you!

Bless you for the light you are bringing to people! Believe me, you bring a balance of good into the world and the world is grateful. I wish you comfort and true Joy. Your strength helps us all!
Yesterday my class had fun dancing and playing music. They were all laughing and having a good time. It is truly joyful to be in the presence of joy. Pure fun for the save of it.
Just yesterday, actually. A person suggested that we needed to move our wall clock in the kitchen of our Quaker Community House so that the lady who runs the yoga class could tell when it was time to end the session. I said playfully, the instructor should look at her watch!
Do it all the time to my mother and a friend of mine. Love to see people laugh and the fact that I can make them! Guess I’m a performer!
