I enrolled for a charity called rhythms of life on Wednesday. Yesterday was my first shift doing food distribution with them. I do a lot of charity with the homeless in my spare time and I am always, always so touched by how polite and grateful so many of the people queuing up for food are. I also noticed, a lot of the people were actually quite fussy with the type of food they like, and I was told that during the day, the people on the street will eat whatever they can as it is all they can get...
I enrolled for a charity called rhythms of life on Wednesday. Yesterday was my first shift doing food distribution with them. I do a lot of charity with the homeless in my spare time and I am always, always so touched by how polite and grateful so many of the people queuing up for food are. I also noticed, a lot of the people were actually quite fussy with the type of food they like, and I was told that during the day, the people on the street will eat whatever they can as it is all they can get. However, when we offer them a choice, they will be choosie. And I thought…why the hell not. We get to decide what we want to eat, why can’t they. We are all humans after all. And I loved that I was offered the gift to give these people that choice.
I have received from strangers the gift of seeing deeper into relationships in my life. They are teaching me we need each other, we are made for connections with one another.
Today a stranger spoke to me cheerfully while we waited for our food to be prepared at a lunch vendor.
Knowledge. I just got finished listening to a speaker who came to Doane and spoke about the importance of letting go of fear in dialogue with those with whom we disagree and too often see as the “other.” I did not know this person, but he had a great deal of wisdom to offer all of us that I intend to put into practice.
A smile, a hello, and just the simple presence of everyone I come into contact with. It’s peaceful and fulfilling to realize we are all connected and one.
The more I see the more the truth of our connetiveness is ingrained in me. I pray that I can be a positive force in someone’s life daily.
We are all one, connected in everything from food to.peace. To name just two ways. My benefactors are incalculable.
Experiencing the gift of meditations on Insight Timer. Freely given but I personally know none of them.
Malag, thanks for mentioning this site, I have just joined and I am enjoying it ????
You’re welcome Palm. I have been finding great benefit in it so far.
people who are mirrors of myself. I see them return a smile. my joyful outlook is reflected back to me. I offer words of comfort to those in turmoil and I see the comfort on their faces. mirrors always show the truth
Every day I receive from this site your wisdom, dear strangers.
friendliness.
On another scale strangers keep the world moving and going and without them showing up for work I would not be able to function like I do now.
Kindness. Caring. Respect. Dignity.
Positive energy! Advice!
A smile… extra service… patience… courtesy… lack of judgement
????????
Smiles as we pass each other. It’s always smiles for me.
Most often, just a sense of friendliness and courtesy upon unexpected encounters. Beyond that, and less frequently, are the times when a pleasant encounter with a total stranger leads to sharing a mutual moment or simpatico understanding of that moment due to life-experience, which, sometimes leads to shaking hands or just a concluding nod as we each continue on our way.
This is funny and being that I am singlenow, I will say that I have been asked out on dates by strangers.
I am not ready to og out on dates and have a love relationship at this point, but it is kind and flattering that People I don’t know have asked me out!
Otherwise, strangers are almost always kind to me. I am Grateful for all the loving kindness and compassion that loved ones and so called strangers send me. My intention is to plant seeds of love and joy for all beings everywhere.
Amen to that, Antoinette, “planting seeds of love.”.
Smiles, friendliness in shops, courtesy, letting me into the line of traffic when driving in a jam.
